Waggelwasser
I discovered the Wackelgewässer in a perfume shop - and automatically kept an eye out for Nasengold (with the best grapefruit scent ever for me: G.). But there were only the two - and they were hidden high up on a shelf, so the saleswoman could only reach the two treasures with the help of a little ladder. Usually, I feel uncomfortable asking for them, because during my lunch break fish expeditions, I often just come to sniff, but rarely drag home any loot. However, yesterday curiosity won, 27 degrees, summer day, just perfect! For my absurd sense of humor, the name alone is reason enough to test it - just like I originally tried Nasengold because I found this cheeky-confident-ironic play on words super cool.
But of course, you are absolutely right: It’s not the title or appearance that counts, but of course only the inner values!
Little time and quickly decided: A decent portion of Light on the left arm and Dark on the right and back out of the perfume shop and back to work.
On the first sniff of Wackelwasser light, I think of: Champagne! It doesn’t smell at all like Fanta or Bluna or anything similar, but clearly like champagne. Not Rotkäppchen, or Metternich or anything (apologies to all fans..), but fine-bubbled, vintage champagne with a characteristic yeast aroma. I’ve had something so noble once or twice in my life - and indeed, it’s a smell and taste that I have stored away. You never know, maybe I’ll win the lottery one day and believe me, then I’ll be so prepared!
The second thing that shoots through my mind, uh, through my nose is G.! The best grapefruit scent ever! From Nasengold! Wow, you Wackelwasser, could you perhaps be a secret little brother? A Waggelwasser with a small g. - in contrast to the big G.? It’s probably the zesty top note with pepper and ginger that immediately reminded me of one of my favorite summer scents. But even in the further development, a family resemblance cannot be denied. In G., the wonderful bitter grapefruit note, which is completely absent in Wackelwasser, remains until the base. But jasmine, orange, rose, a beautiful bouquet of flowers, they share. Wackelwasser achieves something astonishing for me: It lives up to its name: It could also be called Blubberwasser, because it remains an unstable scent throughout, just like when you sip from a champagne glass and the carbonation bubbles burst unexpectedly, letting the scent of the wine pop back into your nose. In the case of Wackelwasser, it goes pop---jasmine-----pop plop pepper---pop orange--- pop-pop-pop ginger. Everything is zesty-bright and completely uncomplicated. Wackelwasser light is a great summer scent for me - which gains something unmistakable and distinctive through this alcohol-yeast component. And no, to all those who are now suspicious: it does NOT smell like someone poured their beer over your head!
The second part of the name is also very rightly carried by Wackelwasser: Light in every respect: Bright, zesty, but fortunately neither with overwhelming sillage nor with excessive longevity. That would seem really inappropriate to me for such a bubbly, unstable fellow. By the way, re-spraying works excellently - it’s like pressing the reset button - or refilling fresh champagne! So then: Cheers!
PS. By the way, when shaking the sample, no carbonation bubbles dissolve…. I tried it and you can skip this test…
