Totally gender-bending this one

I did not like the female version of this fragrance in the slightest, so I was actually interested to see whether or not this fragrance would once again disappoint me.

Well, Diesel Fuel for Life Homme, is better than the female version. Five million times better.

I couldn't believe what I was smelling. This fragrance is deliciously seductive and masculine.

It opens with a subtle hint of grapefruit and rich, sweet, licoricey anise. It's like a more woodsy, more masculine version of Lolita Lempicka, just minus the vanilla.

I'll agree with previous reviewers that state that this fragrance can be worn by either sex. I'm a very girly-girl and I'm really enjoying gender-bending this fragrance.

The deep woodsy aspect blended with the almost tart raspberry, anise, spicy notes and heliotrope, gives this fragrance an earthy-like finish, very unique and distinguishable.

Diesel Fuel for Life Homme, smells sexy on a man and daring on a woman. The lasting strength is fantastic and the sillage rather strong. In fact, it can be quite overwhelming if over-applied.

It's a pity that I hadn't discovered this fragrance until now. I have missed out on many a chance to douse past boyfriends in this wonderful scent.

Use with caution... Not anymore.

It was 2007, we all know the 00's in general were incredible years to be alive. My sister got me this perfume for my birthday.

I was a normal/dumb teenager back then who didn't pay much attention to things, but I was instantly super impressed by how the bottle presented itself. The cloth, the zipper, the metal cap, the feeling the whole package created - it was so original, so cool, so badass. Use with caution!

Then, I sprayed it...
This thing held the power to teleport you into another dimension. It was an absolute gamechanger, it was pure magic, it felt as if a super advanced civilization had come to Earth and gave us their super cool fragrance. It was more than love at first sight, for a split second I knew that this would be my signature scent.

Back then, you definitely had to use it with caution. This thing was strong, especially for an EDT, 4-5 sprays were enough to last for 6-7 hours (probably more in the evening), and it projected absolute magnetism - I was getting tons of compliments!
I was using it probably until 2010 when I decided that I didn't want to grow tired of it and I took a break, and then, for some reason, I forgot about it.

In 2018 I decided to check if my favourite fragrance was still being produced. I was gladly surprised that it was in stock. I instantly got it. Even though I wasn't all that into perfumes in 2018, I sensed that something was off. The magic was still there, but the power wasn't. I was utterly disappointed. I finished it quite quickly and moved on.

2025, I got the desire to sense the magic of the late 00's again. I wanted to be reminded of that time, to smell thit glorious scent once again. Two days ago I bought another bottle. I'd already read the reviews, other people have also stated that the fragrance was watered down/reformulated. Why do manufacturers do that? Why?! "Oh, no, our perfume is way too good, we have to butcher it". Did some of the ingredients become too expensive? Okay, I can sacrifice the ultra cool bottle but keep the fragrance.
The magic is still there, although barely, I can still get that glorious nostalgic feeling out of it, I am still in love with the smell. The power and the longevity aren't there anymore. On my relatively dry skin it lasts 2-3 hours. At least it is cheap. The good thing is, now that it is so weak, it is more suitable for warm weather and for sport activities. Although it probably won't last for the whole workout.

UPDATE:

After a year of maceration, things get much better - aniseed is no longer the overpowering main character, and the other notes are way more prominent and balanced, especially the raspberry which is now crisp and really pleasant. Still feels watered down though and longevity is not great.

All about presentation

I believe that the presentation of the perfume is what is most fascinating about it: the canvas covering the bottle in high relief is a charm that sharpens interest, even before feeling it on the skin.

Then, when spraying it, the charm faded a bit, perhaps due to the intense opening, which sounds chaotic to my nose.
I thought: it's a perfume created in partnership with Jacques Cavallier, let's let the fragrance develop, in order to see what happens.

Over time, the notes soften, sweetening little by little, so that, at a certain point, they finally create a pleasant aura. It's just that, in my opinion, the notes settle into the skin, clearer, less shuffled, defining themselves without the hindrance of the initial explosion.

This mutation gives the perfume a bias that I consider androgynous, which is why I understand it to be perfectly shareable. I find him fresh and jovial, even spring-like, with a face more daytime than nighttime.

Given these characteristics, I consider it too discreet for my taste, which requires more alarming and disturbing sensations.

As it unfolds, it starts to exhaust discreetly, moderately, without much fanfare. As for performance, it's unflappable.

I like, without loving. I contemplate, without being enchanted.

Youthful

In this Diesel perfume I recognize Annick's (magic sweetness) and Jacques' (fougere lavender) symbiosis. The raspberry similar to Mambo candy of my childhood, is the main player in this structure. Sweet raspberry is paired with grapefruit, mature lavender and something similar to guaiac wood in the base.
Fuel for Life is a youthful and playful fragrance. For younger audience a very good alternative to 1 Million, thus I highly recommend it. Although seems somehow already forgotten.
It reminded me of my sunny childhood, but it won't be a part of my collection. I'm not searching of lost time.

WOW SUPERB PERFUME

Real Class. Very different from other sweet perfume. Great for party & romance. Girls will surely like this. It has a kind of addicting notes. Very good. I Just Love this Stuff. Projection is good.
