The Special Geraniums
During my mother's lifetime, we always had window boxes with geraniums in pink, red, and white at our windows from summer until the first frost. This spring, unfortunately, I had to fire my gardener (he was hoping for more affection from me... which I did not want!) and my current helper gardeners can barely manage the regular garden work. Therefore, my windows are sadly bare this year!
These "normal" geraniums may look pretty, but the smell - well... seems a bit musty to me!
In contrast, the rose geranium, a variety of scented pelargoniums, from which the geranium oil for perfume production is apparently derived.
"Geranium" does indeed have something "rosy" about it, but with the additional scent note of "grass," it also comes across as green and fresh. And this "Yardley" fortunately lasts on me, which unfortunately not all from the series do.
It's a shame that it seems to be no longer produced!
