In the Flower Shop
Here I am testing, of all things, a floral scent. I, whose weakness is already floral notes. I, who feels a bit uncomfortable in florists because I don't know the names of the flowers. I, who doesn't even know how to spell flower. And I, who in my younger years thought that musk was a flower with red petals… hmm…

The scent:
The scent takes a little moment at the beginning for the alcoholic note to fade away. Then it starts to smell quite floral sweet, but at the same time also slightly earthy and a bit green. The floral sweetness should come from the namesake hyacinth, which fortunately does not smell typically floral-stuffy. It actually smells as if you were entering a flower shop: sweet and pleasantly scented flowers (as I said, not stuffy) and watery potting soil. It's almost as if I can see the dripping roots of the plants in front of me, as they are taken from their water containers to be wrapped in paper. The flower buds seem to enhance this perception effect.
However, the green notes dissipate quite quickly, so one cannot really say that the scent is truly green. For me, it remains floral-sweet.

Longevity and sillage:
Well, hyacinth is a short-lived scent that reaches its limits after three to four hours.
The sillage also only plays for a short time and starts off weak. The scent is therefore more for personal enjoyment rather than for others to smell.

The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular with slightly inward-pressed sides. On the front, there is a blue label with the name and brand of the scent, bordered by a golden frame. The cap is cylindrical, gilded, and tall. All in all, quite nicely done.

Hyacinth. Of course, I had to Google to see what these flowers look like (and I’ve already forgotten it again by tomorrow…). Of course, they must come in different colors, making it all the more difficult to distinguish or remember them.

But anyway, the scent here has turned out quite nice. Whether it really smells like hyacinths, I can't say for sure.
It reminds me, as described, of flower shops, as one somehow also seems to perceive nice (watery) potting soil. However, the scent is very weak, so it can only be enjoyed alone, as others will hardly perceive it. Therefore, I actually recommend this scent only as a simple day or casual fragrance on warm days.

not the hyacinth I'm looking for
In my search for a rich, dark hyacinth scent that smells like fully bloomed dark purple hyacinths, I came across Yardley Hyacinth.

The selection of more or less "pure" hyacinth fragrances is, in my opinion, unfortunately limited, and the price was acceptable for this, so I bought it "blindly".

Unfortunately, Hyacinth has not proven to be what I am looking for. I was hoping for a lush-floral, sweet, heavy, and almost morbid scent, something that could knock an unsuspecting victim unconscious if too much is used or if the windows are kept closed for too long. (Anyone looking for something similar with gardenia scent should take a closer look at AG Gardenia Passion in my opinion)

Unfortunately, Hyacinth is almost the complete opposite. It is more of a nice wildflower form and is also very herbal-green. Something for a nice older and very well-groomed lady, somehow respectable and very British. (Sometimes the content indeed lives up to what the packaging promises;-)

What a pity, now the search continues...

A lightly soapy floral scent that does smell like hyacinth, but lacks the unique character of real hyacinths.

Smells better than a real hyacinth.
Subtle, soft, light.
Reminds me of joy and spring. Maybe layered with wood or leather....

Naturalistic hyacinth water that, due to its simplicity, doesn't compare to the quirky beauty of a bluebell.

Rather bright, "green" hyacinth scent. Quite similar to the original flowers, though.

A fresh hyacinth. Bright, light. A bit green. Doesn't blow me away. H&S moderate.
