Raw Dior Homme Sport
The announcement of the fragrance name along with the three notes ginger, iris, and vetiver evoked associations with Prada's Infusion line for me. Therefore, I was very pleased when I was able to pick up the scent a few days ago at the local Zara. In practice, however, it is quite different from what I expected, namely much closer to Dior Homme Sport, in an older formulation.
For an on-site test, I must warn you right from the first seconds. There is a first alcoholic background noise present in many fragrances - here I find it extremely pronounced. Even on the test strip, I still primarily smell alcohol after several minutes. Therefore, I would definitely prefer a skin test here, as the alcohol dissipates after 1-2 minutes and reveals an opening of fresh, yellow-green citrus mix. The ginger adds a pleasantly sweet spiciness, albeit somewhat delayed. Subsequently, the fragrance remains pleasantly fresh; I perceive at most a creamy aspect from the iris. For my taste, this could have been a bit more pronounced. And the vetiver is not as present as I would have liked. The green woodiness is there, but it does not play the role one might expect from the name.
After a few days of testing, I ultimately arrived at the title of this comment: Raw Vetiver represents for me a rough variant of Dior Homme Sport. Dior comes across as more balanced and refined. The Zara variant is undoubtedly not quite as high-quality. Still, it's not at all bad for what you get for just under 20 euros, and in my opinion, it's more interesting than the recently poorly reformulated version of Dior.
It is an EdP concentration, but one should not expect miracles in terms of performance. I perceive it for about 5 hours - not bad for a fresh scent. By the way, I also like the very straightforward bottle design of the new fragrances. Without much frills, but with a tactile quality glass that feels substantial in hand. Overall, it makes me eager to explore the other theme fragrances from the same line.
