Is it all just Fugazi?
Now I'm probably writing my first review....

To a Zara...
Who would have thought....
I had never been to a Zara before, even though I was no longer completely green behind the ears, until a few days ago (inspired by my pearl). I always thought Zara was aimed exclusively at young ladies.

This fragrance leaves me thinking.
Its similarity is shocking!

It shows one thing very clearly, marketing and presentation are apparently everything!

I paid full retail for his model, which is supposed to contain a selection of the finest 5-year-old vintage ouds.... this Zara creates 95% of the DNA and costs less than 5% of the original.

Now just looking at the "Juice" itself, sorry current hype niche but here the ratios are just absolutely wrong!
It's frightening, honestly!
In terms of color, one egg resembles the other, the Zara comes with 78% of the Alex with 71% vol Alc.

Of course there are noticeable differences in quality, of course it is weaker, but in completely opposite proportions! Including the H/S, it achieves 80% of a current Alex2 and costs 4%... that doesn't work/fit together any more. What's the problem now? Are the cheapies getting better and better or is the niche getting worse and worse?
Honestly, this fragrance makes me think. When I bought Alex 2, I dreamed of the Thai rainforest, oud plantations, large, distant spice bazaars and was delighted by the exquisite, precious ingredients.
Now I'm standing here under artificial light in Zara, holding a 100ml bottle for €17.99 in my hands and having 95% of the same olfactory experience.

About the fragrance:
Well, it starts off strongly alcoholic, but this really evaporates within 3-4 seconds. But then it's there, Alexandria 2.
Clearly not in its full splendor, more like a really good photo.

Sometimes you read about dupe/original where the dupe is compared to a washed-out image of the original. I would deny this here, you are not there live, but you are watching a 4k video recording via VR.
The most serious differences are in the performance. While the Alex is very loud and long-lasting, the Zara is "only" blessed with a normal average durability.
The woodiness is a nano trace less deep, hardly noticeable but in direct comparison it is noticeable, but really only minimally.

Otherwise, just Alexandria 2.
For me, it's a cross between Le Male and Oud Wood with a hint of oud.

The bottle and the box are quite nice for the price. I like the box, the glass makes a good impression and I like the wooden cap. The sprayer on my bottle, on the other hand, is not so great.

What can I tell you, Zara already knows how to do it.
It has become a real addiction.
Today was my 4th fragrance and 5th bottle of Zara in total within a week.
I already have the original (Alex2) or I don't even like the fragrance that much (Angels Share).
Sometimes I just buy the pieces pointlessly because I find them so outrageously well made for the price.
The next candidate will be the Sand Desert at Sunset.
I have the original as a bottling, don't particularly like it, have Khamrah as a bottle and will probably also buy the Zara. Simply because they have such an outrageously good price-performance ratio.

If there had been something like this when I was at school, I would have been so happy..

What's wrong with Zara? :o
I'm a big fan of Xerjoff and especially of Alexandria II and the other oud stars, but I still think it's amazing what Zara has delivered here.

Of course, Somewoody doesn't quite come close to Alexandria, but it's damn close, especially in terms of sillage For me, Somewoody is just a little brighter and generally doesn't have the depth of Alex2.
In the opening it still seems a little synthetic/alcoholic, but as it progresses it becomes really nice and woody, floral, sweet with a very slight medicinal note.
The closer you get to the drydown, the softer and creamier it becomes.
Lasting power and sillage are of course not as strong as the original, but totally fine for the price.

I'm not a fan of dupes, (especially those that use exactly the same oils for 1 hundredth of the price, like Xerjoff, Roja, PdM, etc.). d :D :D ), or rather go for the original, but the fragrance is really recommendable, especially for people who don't want to spend too much money on fragrances.
The price/performance is absolutely bomb!!!
The bottle is also more than okay for the price.

Definitely worth a test :)

Who is Alex or: Fruity? - No, creamy!
The ones at ZARA publish like savages - mainly dupes and/or mostly well made, the names also chosen in a nice hip way so as not to underload the search function at Parfumo.

Certain basic themes are repeated, so that you often have the feeling that you have smelled one or the other fragrance at Zara before. That's how I feel about "#Tobacco Collection - Rich/Warm/Addictive | Zara" , Warm Black , TOB/03 Tabac-Treasure - not identical but using the same tobacco-warm-fruity framework.

On the other hand, ZARA gives you the opportunity to get a taste of the big brands without having to invest a heap of money - 100ml bottlings, if you will.

You often have to be quick, as the Spaniards rotate their productions faster than the German government rotates its plans to replace the heating system. This happened to me recently with Coastal Salty Forest - yesterday in the watch list, today nowhere to be found.
By the way, the performance of most Zara fragrances is no less fleeting - there has to be a catch somewhere.

Are they really so full of creativity, or is this simply Zara's business model to generate customer panic?
The statements or reviews of Zara fragrances are full of references to the copied originals. From Aventus in countless iterations to Tobacco Vanilla and Imagination to Alexandria II, you can find all kinds of posh stuff in a not-so-bad discount bottle. That's not a sign of inventiveness, is it? As a perfume fanatic, do we even need to test the ZARAs, or do we know one and therefore all of them?

With so many releases, there are always exceptions that make you go "Oh, that's from Zara?". Try TOB/02 Tobacco Tango, for example! And then, of course, there are also original compositions by well-known perfumers such as Jo Malone's Zara Emotions N°01 - Vetiver Pamplemousse Eau de Parfum, so there's not necessarily a lack of class at Zara - not in terms of price/performance anyway.

My latest Zara aha-experience was Somewoody, especially since I didn't know Alex II.
Everyone who has read the statements about Somewoody knows that it smells like Alex. But what does it smell like to someone who doesn't know the former? Like many Zaras, Somewoody starts off synthetic-alcoholic, almost scratchy. But this quickly subsides and it remains a milky-creamy amber fragrance, woody, somewhat sweet, with fresh nuances. This woody freshness remains throughout the entire, very successful drydown, surrounded by white flowers, before fading into a musky aura that is close to the body. Incidentally, the lavender mentioned in the notes is well hidden in the fragrance pyramid. At least I couldn't find it.
The performance is in the upper range of the Zara portfolio: it certainly lasts for 6 hours, even if it never really radiates powerfully, but for me this is more of a reason to buy it than an obstacle, as it can be used in a much more versatile way.
As I said, I can't draw any comparisons with Alex, but I do see parallels with № 02 - L'Air du Désert Marocain Eau de Toilette Intense, although the spicy elements in Somewoody are much more delicate, and with the woody freshness of Imagination, although here it is completely unfruity.

Somewoody is a warm, bright and pleasant daytime fragrance, a classic evergreen, unagitated - almost harmless, but still special, as this DNA is (still) relatively unspent. Somewoody is not "Look what I've got in my pants", but "Come on, let's chat over a cozy coffee".
The only thing that spoils my overall experience is the synthetic quality that I find in almost all Zaras. I sometimes even have the feeling of a sour taste on my tongue - subjective, admittedly, but still present. However, this effect subsides in the drydown and so I can only recommend anyone to invest 16 euros to get to know this DNA and find out whether they can live with it. It is definitely worth it.

Zara Somewoody or rather "Alexandria ll L'Eau"
The Somewoody is my first fragrance from Zara and what can I say ... pretty awesome. As a big fan of Xerjoff Alexandria ll, I became aware of Somewoody, which is supposed to smell similar to the aforementioned Xerjoff. I figured for under 20 euros it wouldn't hurt if the fragrance was a disappointment. When the package arrived and I took the perfume out of the box, I was struck by the simple but beautiful bottle. I didn't wait long and applied the fragrance to the back of my hand with two sprays, waiting a few seconds to finally smell it.

My first impression was: Wow, the resemblance to the original is right there.

The fragrance doesn't smell cheap at all, which might be suggested by its low price. The opposite is the case, it smells very classy and high-quality. What I personally can smell is definitely the lavender, sandalwood and oud, as well as the special and great symbiosis of the other fragrance notes. Anyone who knows what Alexandria ll smells like will understand what I mean. What has to be said, however, is that the Somewoody is not as loud and intense as the original. But that's not a negative thing at all, as Alexandria has already earned me negative comments due to its very strong persistence and sillage. You just have to be careful with the dosage. The Zara Somewoody is slightly watered down, not so obtrusive and can be worn anywhere in my opinion. The longevity is good, the sillage is perceptible for the first 2.5 hours, but not too strong and then gradually decreases. I get a longevity of about 8 hours with the fragrance.

The fragrance could also be called "Alexandria ll L'Eau" and cost ten times as much with the different branding on the bottle.

Whether you can/want to pay the high price for the original is up to you. Personally, I will continue to celebrate the Xerjoff, but will no longer be prepared to spend so much money on it. With the Zara Somewoody, you can get an "Alexandria ll L'Eau" for a fraction of the price. This one scores with a good H&S and almost the same fragrance experience as the Xerjoff. It's always amazing to see how little money you can get such a fragrance for. Or to put it another way, how much you have to put on the counter for a fragrance.

Conclusion:

Zara Somewoody - pleasant woody fragrance suitable for everyday use with good H&S at a low price

Alexandria ll - pleasing fragrance suitable for special occasions with very, very good H&S at a very high price
Which one to wear in the end, everyone decides for themselves.

Sought and found
I have already tested many niche houses, have various Xerjoffs in my collection and the Hypetrain Godfather of Oud could not be missing with Alexandria II. Fortunately, I only bought it as a 5 ml sample back then.

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed at the time. Not because Alex II wasn't well made - on the contrary - it's an outstanding fragrance in terms of craftsmanship.
Personally, I just didn't like the fragrance composition. And that annoyed me. I wanted to like it but it just wasn't mine. Too medicinal, the oud a little too stalky (I don't want to know how I would react to Alexandria III or Orientale) and overall just "too much".

After I became aware of the Somewoody and read through some reviews, I ordered it directly because the version described as "Alexandria-Light" appealed to me. Definitely worth a blind buy at this price.

I really had to laugh, for me this fragrance combines everything I like about Alexandria and leaves out what doesn't suit my taste.
First of all, however, there is a slight synthetic note in the first 20 seconds after spraying. But it disappears as quickly as it came. After 5 minutes, everything has settled and sorted and I smell a really super nice sweet-creamy-woody fragrance.

As the rest of the community writes: Regarding the price and quality, you really have to think about it. This fragrance shows off the niche houses to the assembled crew...

The fragrance is creamy, the controls seem to be turned down a bit, oudy without being stale and has the unmistakable Alexandria II DNA.
An absolute success, I'm really happy.

Now I just have to ask myself whether I really want to wear a €17 Zara Cheapy...

...but I'm afraid that's exactly what it will come down to...

I love the dry down, it is sweet, vanilly and smoky. Top notes are woody and may be a bit harsh for some people but just wait for a bit.

It's a copy of Beyond the Wall, which in turn is inspired by Alexandria II. The scent is pleasant, the "fluffy" drydown is quite good.
