Stronger at the Start than the Original, a Twin in the Drydown
I must honestly say that I hesitated for a while before getting this fragrance - after all, the previous reviews were not very impressive, and not least, I had to buy it without being able to test it, as there was, as often at Zara, no suitable tester available. Curiosity ultimately won out - luckily, I can now say.
I was truly extraordinarily positively surprised by this fragrance - right after spraying, it becomes clear that it carries the name "Elixir" for good reason! At the start, it is significantly stronger, more complex, and above all fruitier than its designer counterpart (YSL Libre Le Parfum); in the drydown, both fragrances then resemble each other like twins. At best, you can perceive a tiny, almost non-existent difference on the test paper; on the skin, I actually find it impossible to distinguish between them. The longevity is quite comparable to the designer, and I would personally even describe the sillage as slightly better.
Even though Golden Decade Elixir comes across as a bit soapier and with a slight synthetic touch, it fits fantastically into the overall concept, especially with the fruitier opening of the fragrance.
Conclusion: As for me, I am thrilled and will probably get another bottle as a backup. And I only do that when I am truly convinced of a fragrance.
