Zara, that was disappointing!
As part of a great hiking package, I managed to get a sample of Red Vanilla a few months ago and, despite the rather mediocre reviews here, I was quite taken with this simple scent. Vanilla and berries are my favorite combination. Since I got this little sample, I've been lurking around the Zara online shop, eyeing the Red Vanilla offers. And since I'm already ordering, it makes sense to test a few other fragrances blind, right? So I kept filling my cart with various Zara scents, only to not complete the purchase process.
Well. This time was different. This time I added the small bottle of Red Vanilla to my cart and also opted for a 100ml flanker of Ruby Berries, because here too: red berries and vanilla. Bought.
I noticed the (current) perfume rating of 6.4 but still wanted to give it a try.
What is positive is the shipping time. Ordered on Sunday, arrived on Tuesday. But that is (besides the fortunately non-existent longevity of the scent) also the only positive aspect.
Ruby Berries does not smell like vanilla berries at all, as I had imagined. To be precise, I smell neither berries, nor peach, nor vanilla. It smells... just one-dimensional, piercing, and artificial, without any scent development. Headache. Of course, with that price, you shouldn't really expect anything else.
So I will stick with Red Vanilla when it comes to Zara, which, unlike Ruby Berries, keeps its promise.
