Vanilla Devotion Zara 2025

So before testing it, I was wondering why no one likens this to D&G Devotion or Zara A Sweet pastry in Paris etc. It's a grourmand citrus afterall.

Well it's because this is 1:1 Brit for Women by Burberry, which is 21 years old and no one seems to remember it. I do tho. It is ingrained in my memory. Trust.

It is sweet plastic vanilla. Do not expect the sweet and sour citrus of Devotion or A Sweet pastry in Paris or any real citrus for that matter.

Another case of test before you buy! Even if it costs €15 on sale.

Anyone who thinks they have found a dupe for D&G Devotion here should be warned, the blueberry indicated on the packaging is unfortunately the main character of this fragrance. Without this notoriously bothersome blueberry note for me, this scent would be a beautiful sweet, gentle vanilla with a hint of citrus. Compared to D&G Devotion, it is definitely lighter and less gourmand, making it perfect for summer.
Due to the blueberry, our paths had to part ways. Perhaps Zara will create a new version without blueberry next summer, then I would buy the fragrance again immediately.

The combination of sweet vanilla and citrus notes is very much on trend. Vanilla Devotion taps into this trend. However, this is not the only fragrance in this direction that Zara has in its portfolio.

When I read the fragrance notes, it was clear that I wanted to test Vanilla Devotion, as the combination of sweet vanilla plus citrus notes appeals to me immensely. Additionally, I was curious if it resembles the Zara fragrance A Sweet Pastry In Paris, which I have owned and loved for a few years now. The described fragrance notes are indeed very similar.

After my test, I can say that the two fragrances do not resemble each other very much. The fragrance notes are expressed quite differently in both scents. Vanilla Devotion is characterized by a very sweet, somewhat heavy vanilla. In fact, it is somewhat "buttery," now that I think about it. The citrus notes hardly lighten the sweetness and remain very much in the background. I am sure that orange blossom is included in Vanilla Devotion, even though Zara does not list it as a fragrance note.

In contrast to A Sweet Pastry In Paris, Vanilla Devotion does not smell to me like a freshly baked lemon cake. I do not get that association, as the citrus notes do not come through enough.
In any case, while testing, it was immediately clear to me that the scent reminded me of another fragrance, namely Devotion by Dolce & Gabbana. I perceive the similarity as very strong.

Personally, I find the vanilla in Zara's Vanilla Devotion to be a bit too "heavy," just like in Devotion by Dolce & Gabbana. But that is my personal feeling and does not change the fact that Zara has once again launched a wonderful, balanced gourmand fragrance with very good longevity.
