Creamy, sweet lemon & lime for sunny days
Aw, this is such a cute lemon cake fragrance. I was very positively surprised that this isn't another nondescript vanillic white floral like so many newer designer white florals are.
The lemon note is strong in the opening! Very sparkling and invigorating, almost more like a lime than a lemon. The vanilla on the other hand is sweet and buttery. For the first hours I get a bit of a Lush store vibe from this, like their Vanillary perfume mixed with some fizzy citrus bath bombs, but in a cleaned-up, designery way... If that makes any sense to you. I really like it!
Over time the vanilla takes over the scent and the lemon gets a little less dominant. I can sense the orange blossom, too, it makes the drydown creamier and cleaner. This is not a particularly floral scent though, it's a fresh, citric gourmand in its core.
I have a bit of a soft spot for D&G fragrances, they're a very random designer house, but many of their scents just work for me. This is one of them.
I don't understand why so many people say this is similar to Xerjoff Lira. Sure, both are citrus vanilla scents, but that's it. They're like very distant cousins maybe. Lira lives in a snowy small town in the mountains that is famous for its Christmas market. Her hobbies are baking or reading books by the fireplace. Devotion lives in an area by the sea which has long summers and loves doing various sports and going out with friends. So, one has a cozy, wintery vibe, while the other one comes across as summery and lively. Having both would not be redundant in my opinion.
Devotion is one of those scents that would suit warm or mild weather, but has enough vanilla to cut through cool air, when you miss summer and need a pick-me-up.
