Interesting Facts
The perfume name supposedly refers to the Japanese traditional belief that the "Hatsu-yume", the "first dream in the new year", would tell your fortune of the subsequent year. The Mount Fuji and the hawk, as featured on the bottle, are considered as especially fortunate omens. The fragrance is part of the "Enigmatic Flowers" collection.

So I like him
Contrary to the average rating on Parfumo, I find the First Dream of the Year quite appealing, but that's also because I really like neroli and orange blossom. The longevity on my skin is absolutely fine at around 8 hours and the sillage is also okay - but looking at the price...Okay...Yes, this is not a candidate for purchase :D

As mentioned at the beginning, the top note starts with a lot of neroli and orange blossom. Grapefruit, oranges and mandarins also resonate here and provide a nice freshness. The heart note remains floral and also creates a powderiness thanks to iris, violet and jasmine blossom. Petitgrain continues to make the fragrance fruity and citrusy but also beautifully greenish. It also makes me think of soap and fabric softener. The base is then rather restrained and comes across as ambery with some bourbon vanilla and musk.

If I ignore the price, then I find the First Dream of the Year truly successful. But yes, what is on offer here is not something I would want to buy in this price range. Once again, I would like to thank Nick for the manufacturer sample.

Pretty orange blossom and citrus, but not that original. For the price, I’d expect a lot more.

After a bright fresh-citric opening, this clean Summer fragrance settles to a soft powdery fruity-floral base. Rather simple and linear.
