The darkest and most mysterious Uomo
Uomo Noir Absolu manages to maintain the DNA Uomo despite reducing the sweetness and creaminess of the previous ones with an extra contribution of dry and woody wood, but yes, it retains the note of iris, which, although not declared, feels its aura powdered everywhere.

It gives the impression of being a linear aroma, but in my case, I feel two distinct stages. Onset is cinnamon with pepper with a sense of liquor, like an old liquor macerated, which has lost all traces of alcohol and can only feel. I like this part, it's a very spicy cinnamon, with that liqueur sensation that I have described before, and with the typical powdery touch of this series. Then, that feeling of dusty iris follows, but here already sandalwood and incense make an appearance with a slight rattle of the initial scent. From here, we will have the aroma of most of the perfume, a sandalwood powder with smoky incense and light touches of pepper and cinnamon quite thin. I particularly liked it a lot, it has characteristics that are common with the rest of the Uomo collection perfumes, like that powdered air, but it is also true that it has enough differences to find a space in the collection. Its aroma is drier and less sweet than that of its predecessors, but undoubtedly maintains that touch of elegance characteristic in this series.

The performance of the perfume is within what is usually normal in this series, about 8 or 9 hours in skin with a moderate wake, something more intense at the beginning of the application, but after a while it settles and stays that way, until dying skin ras.

A very elegant night perfume, for cold and temperate times.

For me it is the darkest and most mysterious perfume of the collection, a good option to add, the only downside is that it is not so easy to find and its price, which is not according to the rest of the collection, too high in my humble opinion.

Sorry for my bad english.

Fell for the Harrods Exclusive Hype?
Long anticipated, great bottle, rumors about exclusive Harrods marketing... yes, these are all ingredients that make the average perfume enthusiast start drooling and fall for the whole thing... yes, me too! Full of excitement, I dove into the sample as soon as it finally arrived... I should have known better... the long face came pretty quickly.
At first, I quite like Noir, frankincense combined with ripe plums soaked in alcohol, great! It really reminds me for (brief) moments of Chambre Noire (less sweet) and L‘Insomnuit (more iris-heavy and refined). The balance between smoky-spicy and fruity-sweet is perfectly hit. But just after 2 minutes, the pear liqueur note from DHI comes bursting through and immediately stifles all the good beginnings. While I can still find some redeeming qualities in Dior’s classic at times, my desire to test this one fades away. I’m not a sweet-phobic or a chronic blanket rejecter like some others here; at least I don’t have to announce it like a mantra everywhere and all the time, but unfortunately, this is just too sticky for me and takes away any finesse the fragrance might have ever had. To me, this is just a souped-up Valentino PH Intense, only with a fruity twist.
Unfortunately, this middle part lasts several hours and, in my opinion, too long. To its credit, I must say that it recovers at the end; the mini frankincense note shows itself slightly again when the sugar is digested. Unfortunately, not much else happens here, missed opportunity, people fooled... but that won't happen to me again. But this is what happens when designer brands desperately want to hop on the exclusive train, which I never quite understood or rejected even with niche brands. And to charge a staggering €140 for this... respect!
Longevity is great, easily lasts a day, but the blessing of the diminishing scent wall unfortunately only hits after 5 hours; the sillage is very strong, more of a fragrance for outdoors and fits the current potpourri of Christmas markets and can hold its own against the cotton candy level;-)!

EDIT 14.12.17
Thanks to Parfumaholic, I was able to cross-check with another sample to see if I had the right fragrance in the sample. It was the identical scent; it smells exactly the same. For me, definitely a sweet ripe plum with unfortunately very little frankincense.

Liquorice Raspler and Churchgoer
Foreword:
Noir Absolu combines extroversion with mysterious depth and has completely convinced me after initial skepticism.

Fragrance description:
The scent starts with an incredibly intense and heavy/creamy sweetness that is hard to categorize, as it does not come across as simply synthetic like is often the case nowadays.

A look at the listed fragrance notes and a longer analysis of the perfume lead me to suspect that this scent note is a mix of the listed cinnamon and the frankincense oil, as frankincense tends to be more sweet/woody than truly smoky.
So I hold a slightly different opinion here and find that the frankincense is indeed very present and gives the perfume a lot of depth and sensuality.

At the beginning, you can still detect a bit of the "original" Uomo DNA, but the longer you wear it, the less you compare the scents with each other.

After a while, the sweetness slightly diminishes and the sandalwood becomes more prominent; the two notes blend very well and flow seamlessly into each other. Although this scent appears intense and present, it is very rounded, which enhances the creaminess and makes it very balanced.

From the listed pepper, I notice very little, as I attribute this slight background spiciness more to the cinnamon.

Conclusion:
In my opinion, the scent is extremely well done and is special in its own way; however, for this very reason, it will not appeal to everyone, especially not to those who have a phobia against sweetness.^^

Regarding age, I see this scent suitable for both a young adult and an older gentleman.

As for occasions and wearability, it ranks about where Valentino Uomo Intense stands; this one is perhaps a bit less flexible to wear due to its creaminess, and you have to be more careful not to apply it too thickly (both for the occasion and the application itself).

Mighty Wood
So far, I had already acquired samples of Valentino Uomo Intense and Uomo Aqua and didn't find them too bad, but I didn't have a desire to buy a full bottle. Recently, however, a bottle of Noir Absolu was available at a good price in the Souk, and I seized the opportunity.

Noir Absolu starts off a bit fruity with just a hint of wood in the background. After a few minutes, Noir Absolu becomes sweet, very sweet. The sweetness reminds me of dust-dry powdered sugar. The wood becomes increasingly stronger, and there is no trace of incense.

After a good hour, the powdered sugar retreats more and more, and the wood becomes darker and more resinous.

No trace of incense.

After about three hours, only absolutely black, resin-soaked wood remains. The fragrance has reached the end of its development.

No trace of incense.

Noir Absolu has a sometimes very strong sillage, and the longevity is over 10 hours.
It is ideal to wear Noir Absolu in cool and cold temperatures. The bottle is somewhere between elegant and ostentatious.

I thank Libertarian for letting me have Noir Absolu.

Warming Dark Wood
Interestingly, at first it smells completely like Jack Daniel's. After about 10-15 minutes, it develops the dark, sweet, resinous wood scent that simply overwhelms me. Uomo Noir Absolu retains the typical Valentino Uomo DNA while managing to transform the elegant, powdery sweetness into something dark, even though the incense (for me personally) is hardly noticeable; the other fragrance ingredients are sufficient for that. It is not a typical scent that you can find on every corner, and it impresses mainly through its uniqueness. But it is not only the uniqueness that elevates Uomo Noir Absolu; both longevity and sillage are absolute beasts in their field. And because of these qualities, it is perfect for cold autumn and winter days. Even though it may not be suitable for every nose, I recommend this perfume, and in my opinion, it is an absolute must for every woody-sweet fan.

Different off the other Uomo scents, more dark and intense. Very similar to Black Orchid. Fragrance perfect for the groom at a wedding.

Terrible sweet liquorish chemical mess fragrance, maybe, and just maybe for clubbing when you are in your early 20s, but really, it's bad.

I've always wanted a 'men's version' of TF's Black Orchid. I never thought Valentino would fulfill this wish. Well done!

Everything and nothing at the same time. Doesn't stick in memory with any distinctiveness. Faint incense. Sandalwood pulls the plug on pepper. So what?

Starts powdery-sweet like its predecessor, but is more complex due to the sandalwood base and the touch of incense. Mysterious & sexy at the same time.

I mostly smell a strong, dominant, oily-resinous incense. Now and then a hint of cinnamon flashes through. Quality is top-notch, but it's not my thing.
