Authentic

Similar to Raspy Oud by Aromas de Salazar, Oud Vanilla is a two-dimensional fragrance - despite other ingredients. The vanilla is not recognizable as actual vanilla; rather, it merely brings a subtle sweetness. According to Michael Salazar, this fragrance is concentrated at 50% fragrance oil content. 30% of the entire composition is made up of Cambodian oud alone. I agree with the one previous review of this fragrance and also consider it very 'cokey'. Unlike my predecessor, however, I think the fragrance is quite successful and harmonious. It undoubtedly takes some getting used to, but in my opinion it is an extremely authentic representation and staging of the smell of pure Cambodian oud. Admittedly, I too consider the fragrance more of an interesting experience of the raw resource 'oud' than a fully realized perfume, yet I like it very much. Some time ago I had the pleasure of smelling natural Cambodian oud oil and it smelled identical except for a few nuances, which in the end are probably still (and even if not differentially perceptible) conditionally influenced by the other ingredients of oud vanilla. For this reason, I consider Oud Vanille to be a kind of successful sprayable oil attar. In case anyone wonders if it is comparable to The History Of Cambodian Oud by Areej Le Doré: No, it is not, which is probably due not only to the quality and maturity of the oud used, the processing/blending, but mainly to the other ingredients in Oud Vanille.
