An all time favorite

Smokier than Nirvana Black Eau de Parfum, more vanillic than Hwyl and Murkwood , earthier than Ponderosa, more atmospheric than Valentino Donna Born in Roma Green Stravaganza. It is in the center of a venn diagram of scents I love.

I love this so much. I had the candle first and it works beautifully as both a home and personal scent to me.

This is not uncontroversial: people in my life do not all like the smokiness.

Campfire smoke

This is one of the only smoke-burning wood-forward scents I really enjoy, and it's partially because of the very incense heavy notes backing up the burning Hinoki. I've noticed a trend with boy smells where the top notes sort of "hide" the rest of the notes under it for an hour or so, and this is one of those- a really prominent campfire smoke vibe that slowly transitions to the sort of incense you'd expect in a temple.

Japanese forest fire

I discovered my love of Hinoki recently through Hinoki Shower by BTSO. The damp woodiness is almost evocative of hojicha in some ways, and I love it. This is like a forest fire in the Japanese mountains. It’s meditative, smoky, woody, earthy, slightly mossy and damp, and has a sharp leathery quality that makes it so gorgeously masculine, but especially beautiful worn on a woman in all black, smoking a skinny cigarette.
