A masterpiece for other noses
Unfortunately, that's how I have to describe the St. John, USVI.
On paper, I was convinced that I had found the perfect fruity summer fragrance. I ordered a sample just to see if the fragrance was more masculine or feminine. Unfortunately, it turned out that St. John, USVI is subjective and unwearable for me.
At the beginning, guava and lime alternate with passion fruit and quince. The fruits smell like a cheap ready-made cocktail from Penny's own brand, rather artificial. This mixture gives me a stinging sensation in my sinuses and a headache.
My expectations were then based on the drydown in the hope that rum, vanilla and cane sugar would develop a warm, boozy scent.
Unfortunately, my hopes were not fulfilled. The coconut becomes stronger and stronger as the fruit recedes and forms an unpleasantly sweet, sticky scent with the rum and cane sugar.
As if the bottle of Malibu rum had been left outside overnight at a summer party, so that the bottle now sticks to the table and is covered in ants. Strangely artificial.
Subjectively, I can't assign the scent to a gender. The St. John, USVI is definitely unisex.
Nevertheless, I have to acknowledge without envy that it is an outstanding performance beast.
Even after 14 hours, trying to wash off the fragrance and 1000m in the swimming pool, the Malibu bottle is still recognizable.
The sillage is so strong that St. John, USVI, after you have showered, keeps hitting you in the face while cycling.
Unbelievable!
I also have to say top for the price. Only 190$ for 100ml with the performance is almost thrown behind.
In conclusion, it is by no means a blind buy, but if you like the fragrance, it is definitely a great investment.
