You take a dark, deeply aromatic rum cask. The inside is still wet and soaked with alcohol. You fill the barrel with plenty of tonka beans - just the right amount. Carefully selected light-colored flowers are added, wrapped in tobacco leaves and carefully placed on top of the tonka beans. The barrel is lit from below.
The tonka beans gently roast, caramelize and exude their warm, soft fragrance in fantastic harmony with the flowers, which are gradually dried by the heat. You blow ground saffron into the blazing flames, which smolders in the heat and releases its explosive aroma. The fire deprives the air of oxygen, the room heats up and becomes scorching hot. Tingling tobacco notes unfold their volume and tickle the nose. You cool the fire with creamy, thick, milky coconut milk. Finely grate the zest of a cinnamon peel into the mixture of flames, hot aromatic embers and coconut milk. The essential oils are released immediately and add the finishing touches to your creation.
That's exactly how the Miami smells to me.
City Rythm is a perfume house that few people in German-speaking countries have on their radar. This may be mainly due to its incredibly poor accessibility, especially in view of the high import costs, but the masterpieces that this niche house delivers across the board are difficult to describe in words and should definitely be experienced with your own nose. In my opinion, the fragrance compositions are not only characterized by the fact that they are incredibly complex and harmonious, created with a lot of creativity and a really fine eye (or nose) for detail. Rather, despite their complexity, the entire fragrance impression can always be broken down into its components so that they can be clearly identified. I always have a lot of fun doing this and, above all, learn to better understand the harmony of certain fragrances. Due to the complex creations on the one hand and the "puzzle" type experience described on the other, I would even go so far as to say that this niche house is quite good for learning and understanding and therefore also excellent for an introduction to the world of niche fragrances.
The Miami smells to me like no other fragrance to date - not even close. It's creamy and gourmand, definitely sweet and spicy but still fresh with a citrusy touch, so it's not at all sticky or heavy.
The base is an interplay of a dark boozy note in which a fine light tobacco is embedded. The combination is cushioned with tasty, sweet tonka bean so that it is not too harsh.
After several hours, a dominant saffron note remains alongside the long-lasting boozieness. For me, the Miami then smells mainly warm, spicy and salty. The tingle in the nose also remains.
The sillage is insanely powerful and the lasting power is a good eight hours, even with just one spray. This makes the fragrance extremely long-lasting and you really get more than enough for your money.
If you get the chance, you should definitely try it. One of my absolute favorite fragrances!
