A Subtle Nuance
Madison Pour Homme conveys elegance, class and masculinity. This fragrance was created exclusively for Madison Perfumery of Romania where they offer anything from luxury perfume, beauty products, fine jewelry to specialty coffee.

As many have mentioned, Madison Pour Homme is similar to A Midsummer Dream, but with some minor differences. For some, these differences are a critical deciding factor. Like A Midsummer Dream, the notes that immediately call out to me are grapefruit, elemi, vetiver and Roja's signature oakmoss. Although the note pyramids are almost identical, I find myself more partial to Madison despite the subtle nuance. There is more complexity and depth in comparison. I also enjoy that the vanilla is more identifiable here.

While this is a rather unique scent profile, there is a Terre d'Hermès vibe; only smoother and much more powdery. Terre d'Hermès leans heavier on the pepper and vetiver, which is not a terrible thing. It's simply a different vibe. Terre d'Hermès is one of those fragrances that I envy others for wearing well, because I do not. Madison has its own personality, but certainly checks all the same boxes for me.

Very helpful Review 11
One of the best fragrances in my collection
Roja Madison is one of those fragrances that really took an eternity to finally land in my collection; before, I guarded my small decant of Madison like the apple of my eye. Some of you may have read my negative review of "A Midsummer Dream | Roja Parfums," which I didn’t really like, but this fragrance always had something interesting about it, which is why I still own a bottle despite the negative review. With Midsummer Dream, I have a love-hate relationship; sometimes it feels like insect repellent, and a day later, I love the scent again. That’s also the reason why I haven’t changed my review yet.

I actually had no high expectations for Madison either, but here I was truly proven wrong. I always feared that Madison would end up like Midsummer Dream.

Now, I want to get to the most important part of this review: the scent itself. I really focus on my personal reasons and differences as to why I like Madison so much. Madison feels fuller and more voluminous; my impression is that there is a stronger presence of the scent, not in terms of sillage. I see the reason for this in the stronger use of cocoa, oakmoss, patchouli, and guaiac wood, which darkens Madison significantly, and I think this completely prevents the association with insect repellent for me. Another difference is the spicier top note, which is due to the bay leaf note.

For me, Madison is clearly the better creation than Midsummer Dream, but conversely, I have to agree with anyone who says the fragrances are very similar and that it’s somewhat pointless to own both. However, in the end, it was the subtle differences that led me to buy a bottle.

I really like the floral and spicy aspect of Madison, and somehow this combination is somewhat addictive for me, which is why I can hardly help but cautiously sniff the sprayer of my bottle even on days when I’m not wearing Madison.

Unfortunately, the price of Madison is really too high to recommend a purchase, especially considering the very similar and cheaper Midsummer Dream. I can only recommend the purchase if the points I mentioned about Midsummer Dream bother you and you are truly willing to pay much more.

Madison is truly one of my absolute favorite fragrances, and I really enjoy this masterpiece every single day.

The longevity is really a good bit better than that of Midsummer Dream. I could perceive Madison for about 2-3 hours longer than Midsummer Dream. However, more than 9 hours is also not achievable with Madison. The longevity definitely leaves nothing to be desired for me. The sillage is typically Roja, rather understated, but stronger than with Midsummer Dream; for 3-4 hours, Madison is perceivable at arm's length, after which the sillage slowly decreases to become skin-close after 7-8 hours.

Father & Son (Anniversary Edition)
Some time ago, I wrote a comment on Creed's "Spice and Wood" titled "Father and Son." I feel, then as now, that SaW is a cross-generational signature scent that has everything it takes to shine in any time and on any wearer.

This feeling returned to me while wearing "Madison pour Homme." It is difficult to capture this special experience in the few characters of a statement, so I remained rather analytical and minimally euphoric, emotionally. ;)

First, I would like to mention that, in my opinion, the optimal projection distance is "from 5cm" above the skin. Since the sillage is more than convincing, I can perceive the scent very well at any time without having to imitate a little truffle pig on my arm.

Madison starts with a brief burst of pepper and citrus, which is already beautiful in itself. The pepper then cuddles back into the background, leaving the citrus notes to take center stage for the first good two hours. These are mature and very, very pleasant. Not fleetingly transparent, but THERE. This Roja has a certain calmness that always resonates with me, just like Spice and Wood. Really wonderful.

Subsequently, spicy-floral accords emerge, but they continue to appear fresh and with a masculine twist due to the fading citrus notes. Here, a certain spicy creaminess comes into play, which skillfully fixes this fragrance world for the next hours and indulges both me and those around me.

Reluctantly, more and more woody and "delicious" accords set in as the hours go by. The cocoa is carried by the iris, and together they create a fragrance marriage that radiates harmony. We are talking about well-measured iris here. Therefore, it is not a foe for me, but proof that in the right combination, there are endless possibilities and potential. The vanilla and wood that also resonate have always worked well in the niche, but here they also act as background singers and team players.

I do not know "A Midsummer Dream." I haven't had the opportunity yet. I became aware of the fragrance through the wonderful comment of dear Parfuma "Pepper81." Whether it is really "only" 50 bottles or more? Whether the usual lament about price and proportionality is not redundant? All of that is actually completely irrelevant to me. :)

Madison pour Homme is a truly successful Roja that wonderfully crowns the anniversary of the Madison Parfumerie in Bucharest and has gifted us all with a fabulous scent. I can only recommend contacting the lovely team there via email and getting to know this fragrance in one way or another. It has signature character and should be permanently included in the range. So that it can indeed send generations from Father to Son into the day with a smile.

(PS: The scent definitely also has potential for women who do not like sweet fragrances.)

My Dream Man Will Probably Remain a Dream
Actually, I’m quite annoyed and have been debating whether I should write a comment about this fragrance. But I just can’t help it, so here we go.

Well, this liquid gold is limited to 50 bottles, which is what annoys me a bit. Why is that? I had feared that if I ever got a whiff of this, I might fall in love, and it’s not the first time with Roja. It’s expensive anyway, reportedly around €480 for 50 ml. But I could overlook that if I really, really liked a fragrance; I’m willing to spend for a good piece of luxury! Unfortunately, I will probably never own a bottle, as I don’t plan to travel to Bucharest anytime soon. My mini sample has unfortunately come to an end; I was able to test it a few times and today again for this comment, which hurts. But I did manage to snag a few ml, which I will have to ration very, very carefully! Well, enough about that, let’s get to the essence, the scent...

It has already been mentioned several times that this one resembles A Midsummer Dream, and yes, that’s my impression too, and it’s truly a wonderful fragrance! However, in my opinion, this one takes it up a notch. It starts like picked citrus fruits sprinkled with slightly bitter/spicy spices. Served on a wooden platter, everything feels quite masculine but very sexy. This lasts for a while, which I find very pleasant, but then it gradually becomes a bit darker yet softer at the same time. The vanilla/cocoa combo might be to blame for that; wow, it’s fantastic! The fragrance never loses its masculine spiciness, strong, dark, and confident. But the longer it stays on the skin, the softer side comes to the fore, and that is really damn sexy and simply genius! And so it has happened again, I am in love with another Roja...

To everyone who gets the chance to test it, congratulations! I can only wish you not to fall for it; most will probably have no chance ;) Also wearable for women if you like it spicy/masculine! Longevity and sillage are typically very good for Roja; I can easily get through the day, and the surroundings definitely notice it well.

Reminds me of a luxurious high quality soap that transitions into a creamy, semi-sweet lemon sorbet with a dusting of cocoa.

Madison is a richer take on Midsummer Dream, with aldehydes and cocoa opening to a spicy floral heart and an elegant woody oakmoss drydown.

Very attractive! Fruity-spicy-masculine. Citrus & geranium blend wonderfully with the fir balsam resins. Freshwarm-herbgreen.

A Midsummer Dream is clearly recognizable, but Madison feels spicier, denser, and warmer & more sensual in the base thanks to cocoa. Genius!

A Midsummer Dream, but even more expensive.
Lasts longer, smells more luxurious, shines better, but doesn't justify the price.
Still a great scent!
