If you hit roses on a piece of wood and then extinguish it with musk...
... then it could be Wujood.
Wujood starts off in your face with a strong and fresh rose. After about 30 minutes, the rose pulls back a bit and the scent becomes somewhat softer, lasting around 6-8 hours. After that, it is quite close to the skin and drifts into a woody scent.
It reminds one of Amouage Lyric Man, although the two fragrances go in different directions:
- Amouage is soapier, the wood doesn't come through as strongly, it projects a bit more, and Amouage keeps the rose alive longer.
- Wujood's rose initially seems more aggressive, at the same time the wood comes through stronger, and it has a slightly smoky undertone - likely caused by the musk bath.
For European standards, it is quite wearable and something different, even if it lacks something special. Another plus point is its versatility - you can actually wear it all year round. It is strong enough to be effective in cold weather, but not so heavy that it becomes overwhelming in summer.
Scent: 75% - good, as long as you like masculine rose fragrances.
Longevity: 80% - definitely lasts 6-8 hours, after which it becomes quite woody.
Sillage: 70% - initially quite strong with medium projection, then pulls back to about half an arm's length.
Bottle: 70% - quite nice, but not spectacular.
