Seductive in a Bottle
Imagine this:
It’s the middle of July. It’s 6pm on a Friday. Sun is almost setting. The colors start to fade in. Sunset orange and gold yellow mixes in with royal blue. Light tainted pink and purple as well. Subtle but rounds out the vibrance. You’re heading towards the bar for a drink. The entrance is magical. You see torches and the immediate smell of the bar. You smell tequila, whiskey, rum, vodka, etc. You sit down and ask for one of their specialties since you haven’t been to a bar on the beach. They make the drink in front of you. A perfect round, circular ice cube. The bartender pours in a fruity syrup with mango, pineapple, coconut, apricot, and honeydew melon. All together. Adding a shot of rum, milk, and a drop of vanilla extract. Juicing a Spanish lime into it. They give it to you. And the whiff of it is magical. It’s intoxicating, seductive even. As you drink it, the sun just shines perfect inside the bar. The sun just dips lower and lower into the night. That tropical drink, even after you finish it; lingers on your tongue. Like a memory. A scent. Puerto Rico by City Rhythm.

Fruit Cocktail with Side Effects
With this review, I might rub some people the wrong way. Nevertheless, I want to share my honest opinion and briefly describe the fragrance.

Today, this scent arrived at my place through a sharing as a decant. I was really excited to test it, as the listed notes sounded exactly to my taste. So, I sprayed it once on a test strip and once directly on my skin. After a brief settling period, the first sniff came, and I was honestly shocked. My first thought: “Wow… this is unpleasant. I didn’t expect it to be like this.”

I gave the fragrance about ten minutes, hoping it would develop nicely. Unfortunately, the impression remained. To my nose, it smells extremely synthetic and has a strange, hard-to-place note throughout. Without wanting to offend anyone: To me, it smells like a fermented fruit cocktail. Not fresh, but rather unpleasant. Very prominently, coconut and mango stand out at first. Later, it becomes very creamy, and the citrus notes also come through strongly. Unfortunately, that one unpleasant note just won’t fade away.

To be fair, I must say: The sillage is remarkable. Whether that is desirable in this case is, of course, the question. I can’t comment on the longevity, as I had to wash the scent off fairly soon.

Of course, every nose is different. What is a dream scent for one person might simply not work for another. Personally, it’s unfortunately not for me at all. In discussions with other participants of the sharing, I received similar feedback, by the way.

From the notes, you'd expect a pina colada, but what you get is toilet freshener. There's nothing more to it, I would never wear it

Enjoying a creamy fruit cocktail with an extra splash of citrus in a plastic cup on the beach in Puerto Rico. The sun is shining, life is good.

Pineapple and mango with a very sour note that feels synthetic. A bit like toilet cleaner at the train station. Unfortunately bad :(

Pungent synthetic notes paired with overripe pineapple. The first 15 minutes are very sharp. Not my cup of tea, a candidate for washing off.

Ugh, this makes me feel sick.
Pineapple and milk - why??!!
The grossest toilet citrus on top. Terrible.

Fruity and zesty, you can hardly breathe in the opening.
After that, unfortunately, it doesn't get any better.

Intense fruit market buzz from Puerto Rico with a hint of incense.
Yes, this one gets overwhelming very quickly.
The crazier herb.

Pineapple cocktail in a plastic cup. For me, very synthetic and piercing.
