Babylon is a classic and versatile fragrance
Babylon is more than just a scent, it's an experience that brings a touch of tranquillity and a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Babylon opens with a blast of orange blossom and spicy from caraway with a touch of resins. As the fragrance unfolds, it settle on earthy patchouli, lavender, vetiver, labdanum, then enriched by cedarwood and oakmoss with beautiful floral notes of jasmine and geranium.

This is an electric not just a fragrance, once you spray it, it sparks, then warmth-floral and lavender arises to lure you into a classy and astonishing journey of fougere.

The fragrance is a mood booster with its natural smelling, it gives the feeling of walking along Lavender field.

It's versatile, and also last forever

Guys, you need to get your nose on it and don't listen to some negativity reviews below. In fact, I have recently purchased 3x more bottles for backup. That tells you everything you need to know about the fragrance. Enjoy!

Babylon Ballad: The Most Sensual Incense…
Gorgeous, glowing, softly spiced, floral-woody lavender incense, accented by sweet orange and caraway & anchored by vetiver, patchouli, oakmoss and amber. Jasmine imparts volume and a slightly creamy depth, while geranium, beautifully captured, complements with minty, rosy, peppery, herbal and citric nuances. The blend opens up wonderfully in the early heart, becoming more resinous as it dries down but remaining plush. Vanilla aspects of the amber also come through, making it into a fascinating hybrid somewhere between gourmand, incense and fougère. Definitely unique. Slightly feminine. Excellent longevity and moderate projection.

Cap is incredibly cool and high quality, heavy as heck, however I did find that when allowed to sink down all the way the atomizer would be pressed a little, releasing a small amount of fragrance… so I simply store it with the atomizer removed and pop it on when need be. Am simply noting it here as I feel it’d be disingenuous not to, and to potentially aid future quality control. Seriously super cool nonetheless, definitely the best looking cap in my hardy collection.

As intended, I could see it being adorned by Queens and High Priestesses of the time alike, as well as more discerning male nobles, akin to the later Islamic warrior-poets that Abdes Salaam of La Via del Profumo dedicates his lovely fragrance Tasneem to, or the famous warrior aesthetes of feudal Japan… I’m not entirely sure how the latter would receive it, but the former, with their Persian roots, I can only imagine would quite well.

I would also say that the scent seems to capture, to me, what I can only articulate as “the mystery of the night”… Gently sweet and sensual… whispers of intimate rituals & rites… the endless expanse and wonder of the constellation-filled night sky… unending dunes, a sea of sand, illuminated by the lunar glow… tributaries of the Tigris and Euphrates painting lush ribbons of green, quietly rippling in the warm night breeze… Again, these are all fantasies conjured, rather than exact note-to-scene translations.

Bravo, good sir!

Babylonian 70s
“Were you the one who once lost yourself at this spot?”
“Bla bla always this chatter, is the scent good or not, that’s what I care about!”
Wolle was slowly losing interest in perfume comments, ultimately just searching for inspiration for his new fragrance. While enjoying the Black Metal band Marduk, he had the idea to also draw from the ancient Babylonian pantheon or simply Babylon itself, like the Swedish group. Said and done. Wolle aka Ahmed Mostafa now traveled to Berlin, wanting to capture more impressions at the Ishtar Gate, and then a nice scent would come to him. On site, he also met with an old acquaintance, who was actually spending his retirement in Pattaya, residing in the Villa Germania.

After greeting each other and humming “By the Rivers of Babylon, lalalalala,” Wolle got straight to the point: “I’m curious about your ideas, Robert!”
“I’m just as captivated, uh, curious about what you think, Wolle.” Robert, the vulgar one, was known in certain circles as the owl-crafting friend at the bottle, as the “do we have more civet?” scent artist, simply off the beaten path. Nevertheless, our lovable little guy from Herne knew he would need his brilliant ideas to olfactorily compose the Ishtar Gate and Babylon. Besides, he still didn’t have a cheap place to sleep in Berlin. After figuring out which direction Babylon Ballad should take for the night, it was clear that something really old-fashioned was needed to honor the long-gone era of this epoch.

“Look into the collection of Yatagan, old hits from the 70s and such with lavender, let’s get inspired! Feels like he wrote statements back in 2000 BC.”
“Exactly, first some cool oak moss, then a nice, moderate lavender base. What else is there? Geranium?”
“Not really my thing. Does Yatagan have that in his collection? There’s this new feature, you can read it out.”
“I’m captivated, Wolle.”
“And so am I. So, geranium. Let’s quickly copy what the man likes. Definitely not fruity leather.”

And so the two charlatans brewed a scent together, not to be understood as Babylonian in the sense of a jumble but rather as a homage to a past fragrance era proclaiming itself. Lavender, not herbal but gentle, and almost sweetened by the geranium. Blooming fields of Provence, pleasant mossy nuances, creating a carefree idyll. This truly smooth scent, to which the orange contributes significantly, seems to have no edges. There’s no climax, no surprising twists offered, only the impression of a harmonious, bucolic landscape is evoked. Nothing more happens. Even the gradually opening sweet resin blends seamlessly in, pleasing all around.

“Now we finally have Babylon Ballad finished. But it doesn’t remind me of Babylon.”
“Nice scent, we’ll make bottles with the Ishtar Gate on them. Then it fits. I’ll craft something for us. Do you actually think we should process civet after all?”
“Just make the bottle, Robert.”

Fresh, floral, resinous. Main player is Labdanum with a citrussy twist. Leans slightly feminine to my nose.

Simply brilliantly crafted; cool moss, herbal lavender, dark oranges, floral twist; venerable, little cumin: enchanting-remote.

A very well-crafted classic scent. Here, however, it's more balsamic due to the labdanum at the center. I would call it a balsamic fougère.

Ladanum paired with orange settles on lavender, while patchouli and woods form the base.
