Retro chic!
Rumba Passion really surprised me - given its price and affordability. It delivers much more than its expensive contemporary counterparts. Upon the first application to the very end, this is a floral in full bloom, Jasmine and Rose being the leads of the composition. This mixture distantly reminds me of another retro beauty - Jean Patou’s Joy - however there are no Aldehydes here to be found. If you are seeking the Orange Blossom in the top notes, you must seek it and isolate it quickly because it gets overpowered by the heavy hitting heart phase fairly fast. The Jasmine/Rose combo lays on a bed of creamy, honey-sweet Patchouli, as in the case of Elie Saab EDP, except that Rumba Passion has that 80s retro vibe that I love so much. Sillage is about 2 feet and staying power is around 12 hours on my skin. I recommend floral lovers to snap up this affordable beauty at once! :-)

Special Moment
Rumba Passion was highly recommended to me, and Precious really got me intrigued. Thanks to the swap game, I am now in possession of Rumba Passion. And what can I say? It fits me perfectly. It may not be the best time for everyone to wear this perfume, but I applied it last night in the still pleasantly warm evening and was thrilled by how sexy and seductive it is, without overwhelming anyone. I often need the depth, the real heaviness in a fragrance. I don't care if it's summer, autumn, or winter. I wear based on feeling and desire. It can be up to 40 degrees outside, and I will proudly wear a truly rebellious oriental. I think it lays everything on the table when it gets that hot and doesn't really enjoy the milder temperatures.

With Rumba Passion, I fully indulge. It adapts incredibly well to the warm temperature of the summer night and merges with my skin. At first, it presents itself as very fruity, with an initially piercing note that quickly drifts into nirvana. What remains is a lovely fruity note that immediately connects with floral accords. Orange blossom is clearly present here, appearing extremely dominant, yet it often becomes subdued when the vanilla swings its whip and merges with patchouli. The fragrance doesn't make big leaps; after about half an hour, you know what you've gotten yourself into. You have a highly rebellious oriental, infused with fruits that seem to come from paradise. Thick, really plump. Plus the flowers. Sensuality rises. All of this is enveloped by a layer of vanilla, and powder also rises time and again. A beautiful connection. The honey then adds the finishing touch, while a light layer of spices has emerged from the fragrance. This is how Rumba Passion remains. Many components meet each other, yet they do not hinder one another at all. They simply fit well together. The final act is initiated by delicate powder, which then sinks into the nothingness of the pyramid.

The sweetness of Rumba Passion does not suffocate me; it does its best to present itself elegantly, even at these high temperatures, without really falling heavily upon you. I find it perfect for the night. Whether it's summer or otherwise. It feels really hot and really sharp to me. Of course, I will also engage with it again at the end of the year to see how it performs in milder or even cold temperatures.

Now is a special moment for all those who enjoy wearing orientals and are not afraid to apply extremely sweet and rebellious perfumes. Why rebellious? Well, it has something quite unique, subtly animalistic about it, which blends perfectly with the sweetness and the flowers. Rumba Passion really shows its claws, yet the fragrance is tame like a cuddly cat.

Longevity is enormous, and sillage is also in the higher range. The bottle may not be a sight for sore eyes, but it is easy to handle and has a solid weight. An absolutely reasonable price. One cannot expect great art or extremely hot orgies here, as it could have had significantly more depth, in my opinion. More depth? Is the reviewer going crazy now? Yes - a bit more love for detail, a higher quality vanilla, perhaps a touch of resin and something smoky - and some would have to dress warmly. Because then THIS would be the ultimate secret weapon for the night. For all the wild women among us who can suck the last drop from a man's throat without smudging their bright red lipstick.

Nevertheless, Rumba Passion deserves 80% from me. A good fragrance that has great longevity, and for this price, you really can't go wrong, and to be honest, one should be satisfied here. There are some fragrances that cost five times as much and can't even come close to Rumba Passion. I also like that it is not everywhere to be smelled and that so few people have or know it.

Thank you, SabriNoir. Thank you, Precious. I'll give you a kiss with my bright red lips when I get the chance! Ted Lapidus has often convinced me. (Edit: The old Rumba has nothing to do with Passion. Completely different fragrances, and there are years between them. So don't be put off by the horror reign of the first Rumba.)

Rumba Passion and I - to be continued!

My Obsession with Rumba Passion
My goodness... when a fragrance is named "Rumba Passion"... it stirs my desire and I really expect quite a lot from it. It sounds even louder than Joop! with an exclamation mark. Such a name practically jumps out at you. Sometimes I like the loudness.

I definitely expect an erotic, seductive, mind-blowing scent that leaves me breathless. After all, with a bit of imagination, Passion also sounds a bit like Obsession to others. Its cinnamon scent almost drove me crazy in the past.

I curiously and cautiously open the glass vial with the fragrance sample, which announces its beautiful scent even at the cap, and I handle the contents as if it were explosives. I apply 3 drops on my wrist for testing, and already a sweet, soft, and daring fragrance rises to my nose, reminding me of chewing gum, marzipan, honey, and dark roses, yet it is not a gourmand. Perhaps there's a hint of cinnamon in there, because everything smells round, warm, and inviting. Lovers of green, refreshing Eau de Toilettes will surely be hit by this pleasant, sweet cloud like a club. It is an intense, heavy scent cloud that carries no hint of refreshing nuances in its top notes; instead, I immediately get the full sultry load of the fragrance pyramid: orange blossom, rose, patchouli, vanilla, and honey. I already like what I smell very much.

This balanced, floral-balsamic scent, which also has a somewhat oriental touch, is clearly a Love-or-Hate fragrance. You either like it or you don’t. It is distinctive and unmistakable; even though it reminds me a bit of the vintage "Rumba" by Balenciaga and also a bit of Ted Lapidus' "Creation," it remains unique.

Rumba Passion smells opulent, multi-layered, and extraordinary. I love such strong, quirky mixtures that want to be noticed. Although the sample immediately captivated me for Rumba Passion, I kept testing the Eau de Toilette just to be sure, because I wanted to be completely certain. And then it was clear that I didn’t want to miss this fragrance anymore.

The sillage and longevity are enormous. I only know this from the really heavy, famous scents from the 80s and 90s. I love strong, characterful fragrances and find it more pleasant to use a powerful, long-lasting perfume in homeopathic doses than to overly spray myself with a scent that remains soft and subtle even with the most generous application. Somehow, I find that unsatisfying for myself. Maybe because I already loved using the strong fragrances from Estée Lauder in my youth.

A heartfelt thank you to Irini, who made this test possible for me.

In the meantime, I have acquired Rumba Passion. The dark red, ribbed bottle is not particularly pretty, but the content completely convinces me.

Unusual Everyday Scent
"What is this again..." some may think. "Shouldn't it be able to decide whether it's 'everyday' or not?!"
But that's the trouble with some fragrances. BOTH is possible.
"Rumba Passion" can be worn every day because it doesn't become "annoying" with shrill accents that many "noses" dislike. Instead, the scent is beautifully floral, with rose being predominant, but it's not a "rose monster"; rather, it's finely nuanced yet still powerful.
It harmonizes beautifully with jasmine and orange blossom, slightly sweet but not sugary.
A wonderful base of dark vanilla, patchouli, and woods carries the flowers quite early in the scent progression and lasts a long time without overshadowing any "top note."
Now, it is the case that not every second person wears this fragrance, and it is also unlike any scent I know. It is indeed not everyday. Somehow even individual, accepted by many people to the point of admiration.
Not everyone has it, but it can be worn in many occasions both in summer and winter.

Elegant Oriental
Here the fragrance delivers what the name promises - a soft, floral, and subtly sweet oriental that - when applied sparingly - is quite suitable as a daytime scent in winter.

The beginning is initially clearly floral, naturally without being fresh in the slightest, which would not really fit. The most persistent bloom throughout the fragrance for me is the dark red rose, which matches the bottle well. Sometimes it happens that you have a certain idea of a fragrance when you look at the bottle and read the name, and then the scent turns out to be completely different... that is not the case here at all. The floral opening is followed by a subtle fruitiness and a clear honey note, which adds a bit of sweetness to the fragrance and prevents it from drifting into the sticky territory, rounded off by a delicate patchouli note. I do not perceive any woody notes, nor anything directly earthy, but Rumba Passion is truly a successful composition that reminds me a bit of "Explosive" by Aigner, though it is not quite as strong, and here the very spicy note is missing.

Those who enjoy subtly sweet orientals will find Rumba Passion to be very satisfying; for me, it is a small, relatively unknown treasure.

Not just Rumba, but also Paso Doble works with this, olé! Oriental-spicy, the rose, heavy, a bit animalistic. Uniquely beautiful.

For me, the scent is smoky and even a bit resinous. But passionate in any case!
