Spiky Muse - the name is apt!

I absolutely adore this. I walked in to my local Skins (the Netherlands) wanting to buy something completely different but walked out with this instead.

This is stunning in the summer: it is fruity but tart, refreshing and not cloying. I love love love the tart, realistic opening, and the strawberry scent is prevalent on my skin. The rose and tonka come out during drydown and make the scent a bit creamier, but the tartness also hangs around.

For me, it stays on skin at least six hours and much much longer on fabric. Might be my signature scent this summer!

I wear this when I want to be sophisticated, but also unique and a little testy :)

Almost a Muse

I was recommended this for my first Chypre. Seems to miss a mark for myself. Perfect at first sniff. Dry down is tart. Spritz and sparkly in your face made of bergamot, rose and wood. I desire more patchouli or strawberry.
Yet I can’t stop smelling it! I decided to layer it with Jasmin et cigarette which really makes it for me.

A life full of beauty

If we want to talk about elegance brought with class, but at the same time leaving you speachless, Ex Nihilo is one of the Brands representiung it at best.
Spiky Muse is a perfume that struck me right away, with its slightly acidic and realistic opening, with strawberry as a forerunner.
A fresh and newly bloomed rose slowly makes its way, surrounded by amber nuances and a slight pistachio grain.
A fragrance that I bought, among other things one of the most persistent of the Brand.
I imagine it as a sparkling cheerfulness, a candid portrait of the beauty full of life.

Definitely Spiky

I really appreciate the use of real strawberries in this fragrance and you can really smell the difference. However, it doesn't work great with my skin chemistry. On me, I mainly smell the bergamot, and pink pepper and cedarwood when I look for it. It's super sour and almost sweaty on me. Spiky Muse is an accurate name because it's very sharp on the nose.

Many reviewers say this smells like fresh ripe strawberries or like a strawberry spritzer. That's not my experience, but I would be curious to see how sweet this smells on others. For me it's sour and green, almost masculine, very summery.

Romeo & Juliet

I’m substitute teaching for a drama department today, and the acting classes are watching the 2013 version of Romeo & Juliet. I brought a bunch of perfume samples to school and was trying to match the vibe- “Spiky Muse” jumped out at me for the name. I ordered it forever ago and had long forgotten the notes, but it really does give an ivy-clad, star-crossed, Shakespearean romance! It’s aristocratic, but not “old”… it’s floral like a courtyard, a little damp like the cobblestones, a little “spiky” like the thorns of a rosebush (must be the pink pepper- and rose, of course). I find it more spicy than fruity in the opening, a bit green even- not very sweet at all compared to the jammy rose perfumes- and the woody dry-down is very pleasant and warming. I applied with a dabber, but I’m getting a strong personal projection to my own nose, and a neighboring student said she could smell it a few minutes after application, but she doesn’t seem offended by it! If you are going for the Juliet Capulet vibe, this might just be it.
