Toxique? - But no!
When I evaluate a fragrance as exclusively masculine, I primarily consider whether it would appeal to a man. I can imagine that for "Fumée Toxique".
Would I buy "Fumée Toxique" for a man? Yes, but it would depend on the man. That sounds trivial now, but how can one explain this without possibly coming across as dismissive towards men with certain fragrance preferences?
In any case, I would find a man who, for example, smells like this perfume interesting.
On the other hand, I don't find it quite suitable for myself, and it doesn't exert any attractive power over me.
For me, "Fumée Toxique" starts off very smoky, woody, and also somewhat balsamic at the same time. I also detect at least a slight skin note with a hint of sweat. The violet root, as that is the only one used, and the smoke with the sandalwood? Yes, that could smell like skin. If iris were listed, it might smell like leather. "Fumée Toxique" does not.
A very aromatic cedar wood has also been used. I also suspect peppery notes. Before I looked at the pyramid here, I noted: vetiver, smoky. As we know, not only the few listed fragrance materials have been used. There are definitely many undisclosed fragrance secrets in this scent.
After a while, the smoky scent largely dissipates, "Fumée Toxique" becomes increasingly woody and interestingly aromatic. I can't describe this aromatic blend except to say that it also has a resinous-balsamic scent, subtly. But not like incense or other wood balsams. If ambergris was indeed used, it is definitely a good synthetic imitation, as it smells so fine. I cannot perceive the usual musky creaminess. It remains a harsh, aromatic woody scent. Nevertheless, the slight skin accord remains present. "Fumée Toxique" becomes increasingly intimate for me over time.
But that doesn't mean it has to be that way fundamentally. It is, after all, a fragrance for men. And my experience is often that fragrances on men have a much more pronounced sillage. Or at least that's how I perceive it.
I give it 70% because I can recognize at any time that it is a good perfume, but it is not an option for me. At €109 for 100 ml, it is more expensive than the other Delì fragrances.
Could women wear this scent? It depends on the woman...

What doesn't fit, will be made to fit
The bland, nice mediocrity that I criticized in "Bois Aromatique" has been completely set aside in "Fumee Toxique," and they really dared to try something! Smoke, rubber, and leather placed alongside a sweet violet - yep, that's an unusual combination, no one can complain that it's trivial and nice! Yes, but does it make sense? I'm not really convinced, at least not here.

The name could have warned me, because right from the start, I perceive almost only the smoke and the rubber; only a little later does this violet appear, sweet, pronounced, not quiet at all, but the two fragrance extremes do not connect for me. The leather eventually enters the olfactory scene, but it does not form a connection; it is simply the third wheel. I can't detect any of the woods mentioned in the fragrance pyramid. Gradually, everything becomes a bit sweeter and creamier, probably due to the amber and musk doing their part, and one gets used to this combination, but at least for me, the scents still have nothing to do with each other. Unfortunately, "Fumee Toxique" is not a wallflower; the sillage is quite substantial, and after 7 hours, I can still find the singed violet in a latex suit on my arm.

A duet for violet and (good) sandalwood. Completely convincing in a contemporary way ...think of a, say, less significant L'Artisan.

Cool guy with cigarettes and a three-day beard, but upon closer inspection, a bore in a standard department store outfit: solidly mainstream!

A soft oriental that drowns amber and cedar in sandalwood, slightly reminiscent of a gentle Black Afgano. Very subtle and light.
