On the Golden Horn
Les Soeurs de Noé is a fairly young brand that aims to build a bridge between the Orient and the Occident, and so the Golden Horn comes to mind directly, the Bosporus Bridge as a link between Europe and Asia and Istanbul in general, so vibrant and so beautiful as I experienced a long time ago, searching for frescoes in still quite unknown Byzantine churches.
"Amazing Jade" is such a fragrance that catapults me straight to Istanbul. Immediately after spraying it on, the scents I associate with Istanbul spread: quite dominant over everything else is oud, a very sweet, delicious oud, a little treat that I nibble after passing dark corners to the Great Bazaar. But very quickly a strong but very pleasant incense scent mixes into this sweet oud and also Labdanum adds its deliciously balsamic note. And also directly the leather mixes in, I can't tell if it's Tuscan, but it smells as fresh and spicy as I know it from the Florentine market, but as it is certainly to be found in the Great Bazaar.
So my mental journey to Istanbul is still going on, and I don't see what could change: "Amazing Jade" is a very delicious bazaar fragrance without appearing typically oriental. No Amouage notes, no Shalimar is involved here, it's a very original bazaar, there are single bazaar notes of oud, incense, labdanum and leather, exactly as the pyramid calls it, and spices are completely missing. That's what fascinates me incredibly about this fragrance and I feel that I have fallen in love. The roasted pistachio and the hazelnut, further components of a visit to the bazaar, present in delicious baklava, only appear after a long time, I cannot perceive them in the top note and I only feel their round and dark fragrance after about half an hour, because then there is something that cushions the bell-bright, fine, sweet oud downwards.
"Amazing Jade" has clearly lived up to the aim of the Soeurs de Noé: It is a wonderfully associative fragrance that presents the great metropolis in all its colors. Yet - as already mentioned - it is not a classic Oriental. It's a wonderfully unique oud scent that I like very, very much
