clean ghost

Peach fuzz and white linen. Daydreamy, pure, cottony, ephemeral. There’s got to be a pale rose hiding in plain sight. Maybe it’s the wild orchid, but I’ve never registered much scent to any orchids I’ve met, wild or domesticated. I cannot find a whit of bergamot or sequoia. Like her siblings, she speaks at a whisper and has a mayfly lifespan. I feel like Liis fragrances are what I’d expect a beautiful, benevolent ghost to smell like, Floating especially.

Mental Snapshot: A chintzy boutique hotel, somewhere in the countryside. Your suite has frothy lace curtains and a cornucopia of decorative pillows, which always seem to find themselves artfully arranged back on your bed, even when you set them on the divan. A trolley arrives with breakfast on bone china, but you have yet to see any staff. Once you check out, you lose all memory of the place.

Floating: Review 31

This isint the best way to begin a review, but I want to begin with mentioning that out of the hundreds of perfumes I’ve tried, this is the WORST performance I have ever experienced. It is ABSOLUTELY ABYSMAL, it fades as soon as it is applied. It is an in the moment, sensual and cozy fragrance. Like a quick pick-me-up fragrance for nice and clean feels. Now, the fragrance: it’s like putting on a full linen outfit after an everything shower and spritzing it with peach scented linen spray. Mentioning cleaning supplies when talking about a fragrance Isn’t particularly desirable, as it sounds like it’s synthetic and harsh, but on here, it gives it a beautiful peachy feel, radiant and juicy. Peach and linens. It’s gorgeous for the 30 seconds it lasts. Performance is absolutely god awful.

Outrageously priced second skin musk

Personal: 6.5/10 – Clean, airy musk with a faint creaminess and light florals and citrus. Pleasant, but too minimalistic and musky for me to get excited about.
Mass appeal: 8/10 – Clean skin scents are very likable, especially for people who want subtle “your skin but better.” This fits that bill perfectly, with just enough fruit and linen to keep it interesting.
Performance: 5/10 – Light and intimate, fading within a few hours. Works for what it is, but nothing strong.
Value: 2/10 – High end niche pricing ($230/50ml) for a very minimal, airy scent is impossible to justify. It's nice, but it would be a tough sell at half the price.
Uniqueness: 6.5/10 – The airy-musk space is crowded, though the creamy undertone and linen gives it a small twist.

SCORE: 56/100

Full bottle buy? NO, it’s too soft and musky for my taste, and the price is prohibitive.
Blind buy? YES, it’s safe and pleasant enough that most people wouldn’t hate it.
Recommend? NO, even if you want a very light, airy skin-musk fragrance, it's too expensive.
Date night? NO, it’s too subtle and plain to feel romantic or seductive. It's light and casual.
Office safe? YES, extremely safe and professional. A “can’t offend anyone” type scent.

Pros: Very soft and clean, airy “second skin” vibe, easy to wear anywhere. Enough character to be unique.
Cons: Too subtle and fleeting, overpriced for the minimalism, not very exciting despite more unique characteristics from the notes.

Liis Floating feels like a featherweight second-skin scent. It's airy, musky, and faintly creamy, with almost a powdery edge. It’s the kind of fragrance that’s more about vibe, and that's okay, but not when the vibe is so expensive. It opens with the typical slightly woody musk that we're so familiar with, but there's a clean, slightly powdery linen note. There's also a slightly fruity, slightly floral presence from the citrus up top that makes it a very bearable fragrance as far as musks go, but it's still a bit boring.

A nice skin scent, but not memorable except for the exorbitant price tag.

Clean Girl Gone Too Far

This fragrance doesn't have a story, its just a linear overly soapy floral. That orchid note is like laundry beads or dryer sheets turned to 11. I wish every other note listed were more prominent. The peach and bergamot would have been perfect cause they would break up the soap and add some citrus bite or sweetness. I would also say that Leila Lou from By / Rosie Jane is a better version of this. In Leila Lou, you can actually pick up the different notes of floral fruit and grass without anything overpowering the other, it tells a story.

This fragrance had weak projection and longevity. It lasted maybe 2 hours on my skin and it was just at the skin level. This fragrance goes for $175 for 50ml. Leila Lou goes for $80 for 50ml. I say ditch Floating and pick up the more affordable and frankly better fragrance of Leila Lou.

Lazy Sunday morning

I adore this fragrance so much. For lazy weekend mornings when you're freshly-showered, climbing back into bed on clean sheets, hair still damp, for cuddles and coffee. Very close/low sillage, which makes it so perfect for that kind of intimate, cozy day.

Think mid-spring when it's finally just warm enough to open the windows, doing the crossword with your partner in the gentle breeze that slips in, catching a whisper of your own clean scent when your hair falls over your shoulder.
