From Polaris with love
I was lucky enough to meet Matt in Stockholm during Polaris, and I had the opportunity to smell his latest creations. The one that struck me most for its uniqueness (and also because I am not a fan of natural lavender in perfumes) was Prince V2.5.
Right away, I was struck by this truly well-balanced combination of lavender and Malaysian/Borneo oud.
So I decided to take a bottle home with me.
I wore it and now I'm ready to write my thoughts on it.
The opening is very fresh, sparkling citrus, clean and airy, with white ambergris playing a fundamental role alongside yuzu, which are quite noticeable when first sprayed.
During the dry down, a more floral and slightly sweet part appears. I can distinguish osmanthus, rose and that slightly bitter note of lavender that lasts throughout the fragrance.
Finally, in the base, two really good ouds, Tigerwood from Papua and Malaysian, play together to give an aromatic, dark, robust, almost pungent base that blends beautifully with the heart of the fragrance and the edgy part of the lavender that continues to push throughout the fragrance. Sandalwood, a touch of vanilla and patchouli are also perceptible, and finally a slight musky touch to give body and longevity to the fragrance.
I am very happy to have brought home this creation by Matthew and I don't think it will be the last from the brand to enter my collection.
