Another tea, but a reliable one
This is my go-to perfume that I spray on after I have washed off a different perfume I disliked, to reset my bad mood after the disappointment. Under almost any circumstance, it is inoffensive. The opening is a heavy dose of bergamot, which the jasmine softens into being less acidic than usual. Although it is a very pleasant smell it is also my least favorite part of the perfume, because it's such a typical, thoughtless choice to always put tea and citrus together as if all varieties of tea, whether they are black teas, green teas, oolong teas or any other, are really just interchangeable parts for making yet another perfume Earl Grey. But once the bergamot in this perfume finally calms down and clears off the loveliness of this Oolong tea finally gets to shine on its own merits. It is a far more realistic take on tea compared to those overly smooth and musky "clean" or "spa-like" accords which show up in shampoos and famously beloved cheapies. This tea note has the freshness of a typical perfume "tea", but it also captures the earthy, herbal, woody, and hay-like nuances of the real camellia sinensis leaves. It is lovely, though it falls far short of the incredible depth, delicacy, and fidelity of ONE DAY's Jasmine Tea. ONE DAY uses real oolong tea extract, and it's impossible to beat the complexity of the real thing. Lastly, I pick up a strong musk with a soft and fuzzy feeling like wool roving or cotton balls (but none of the animalic lanolin or "fresh laundry" smells), which I enjoy.
I like this perfume a lot, although of course ONE DAY Jasmine Tea dominates it completely. But the price for MITH is far better and the smell is refreshing and approachable, so I will happily keep this as my "dumb reach" when all other options are unappealing.
