Oud, Resin, Repeat: Jidden’s Middle‑Lane Experience
Jidden opens with an oud combo of aged cambodian + indian that’s unmistakably real but pleasantly tempered. A dry, resin‑forward oud profile that’s woody, earthy and only lightly skanky. It seems like Miyaz tends use aged ouds, and you can smell that restraint; they’re present, textured, but never feral. The opening cheesiness is there, but more Mysore sandal terpene than hindi funk. The fir and spruce bring a pine‑resin smokiness.

Fifteen minutes in, the champaca absolute’s apricot haze blooms, adding a soft fruit‑floral elevation over the house’s now familiar leathery‑dark‑chocolate backbone. By the one‑hour mark, the (unlisted but obvious) Mysore sandal shows up, before gradually receding 3-4 hours later, letting the darker oud‑resin axis retake the wheel.

Jidden is woody, resinous, slightly smoky, with a touch of ambered sweetness and evergreen freshness. Performance wise, we are talking about 8 hours longevity with moderate projection.
Overall, it is a very good release with high‑quality oud (based on my limited experience), but it sits squarely in the Miyaz center‑lane: familiar and enjoyable… yet not pushing toward any definite profile in particular. If you love resin + apricot nuances, this is the one. Otherwise, look to the clearer and more structured personalities in the line (e.g. Iris Cacao, Agar Agave).

I must also note that here is some repetition creeping into Miyaz’s catalogue, and Jidden is one of the blends that feels least committed to a distinctive direction.

एक भारतीय चित्र - An Indian Idyll
Of all the paths that seemed promising, we wisely chose this one. Right behind the sacred cows. The cheesy smears on their holy udders, which soon fermented into white liqueurs. The dark fruits they lost in the balm of the warm mulchy soils. The blooming barns above the fields, the hay fibers tumbling over them with forest honey-drunk bumblebees. And the evening light spread its amber cloaks over the sleeping fir trees. Over traces of resins on their barks, somewhere in the Indian idylls.
**
Souhayl Attar founded the French label Miyaz in 2020 with the aim of combining French expertise with Arab tradition. The house attaches great importance to high-quality raw materials.
This is also evident in “Jidden” from the outset, as it is the slightly cheesy barnyard notes of vintage Hindi oud, animalistic and leathery, the dark, fruity smell of a cowshed that are initially present. The cheesy note quickly turns into a liqueur-like note, presumably a combination of the balsamic notes of vintage Cambodi oud, champaka blossom, and amber from the base. Subtle smoky, earthy nuances and an almost forest honey-like sweetness are qualities that both types of agarwood can express, as are the mulchy, warm, soft wood aromas, all of which gradually become more pronounced. This initially creates the impression of a bucolic idyll, warm earth, cows, individual flowers in a wild meadow, hay (sweet grass), rotten wood in the sun, barns, and fertilized fields in the distance. Gradually, the picture changes, with amber and dark honey, woodruff (also the coumarin contained in sweet grass) and conifer resins taking over with the woody, earthier base notes of oud, as if the path had led us to the bark of a summer grove. From here, we look back with satisfaction.

Ode to Oud
Jidden is a woody and resinous scent, built around a powerful duo of aged Cambodian and Hindi ouds. The opening is a smoky and dry oud accord that is bold, even stately. Once into the heart it initially settles into a rich and warm amber harmony that adds gentle sweetness and depth. The champaca absolute provides dimensional exotic floral-floral qualities. A refreshing green, forest-like freshness is provided by notes of blue spruce and fir absolute, which offsets the oud's boldness. The overall impression is one of a unique sophistication and in-the-nature, even slightly present-day ancient, element that is reassuring, grounding and interesting.

Stunning oud scent
My current favorite scent and best real oud fragrance I have tried. It has the gorgeous roundness and fullness of Iris Cacao Mysore but with a stronger oud and unique dried red fruit facets with rich caramel undertones. I can almost seem to smell the the space between the soil and an evergreen bush, humid, the sunlight peeking in through the cracks, the scent of nature after the rain. It's too bad this only comes in 30 ml, the urge to douse myself in this juice is strong. The vernal grass is a beautiful note, and here only provides support to the oud and lends further complexity. There is an amazing piney camphorous scent, like a pine forest after the rain that you get in the opening and particularly from the atomizer (because the oud is toned down smelling it that way) mainly that is very beautiful. Longevity is all day and it is a full on experience to wear. It smells very smoky in the opening and middle stages, also natural and well blended, dryness, sweetness from a round sandalwood/amber accord, softness, and extreme woodiness with beautiful dark evergreen undertones that highlight the natural ouds amazingly.
It smells masculine due to the smokiness. I'd say this is a scent for the wearer ultimately, a fragrance to ground you in the natural beauty of the Earth. Lovely juice, can't stress how satisfied I am with the quality of the materials they smell next level

Red berries and a little sweet cheese, perfect proportion of Cambodian and Assam Oud.
Not barnyard nor animalic, just a stunning oud blend.

The barn door is half open.
Behind the weathered wooden slats, overripe Gorgonzola broods in solidarity with honey-tinged champaca blossoms.
