French arabic perfumery at its best
There is no doubt that Oud center perfumes are my thing at the moment. Oud Lune by french arabic indie brand Miyaz is one of my current obsessions.
This is a fragrance of contrasts, not so much about notes, but rather about scent profiles and concepts. It behaves like lunar phases, indeed.
At once delicate and distinctive, fruity and woody, floral and balsamic, this perfume is a perfect example of poise and balance, as it’s an olfactory changeling.
OL starts with a juicy mélange of apple and apricot, with a very little bit of pink pepper to make the air fizzy and sour. But it’s the core that seduces me with a very frosty, wooded and dark variety of oud Merauke blended with aged Assam oud.
But the jus never becomes too heavy, barny nor fecal, because tender and buttery florals make the whole thing adorable in the drydown, with mimosa and tonka linked to balsams, sandalwood and roses, not to mention the brand ambery signature basenote, to give stability and luminous, airy nuances.
The fragrance has moderate projection and very good longevity, as it stays close to skin for a very long time.
Not for oud beginners or faints of heart.
