A popular perfume by Monreale for women, released in 1975. The scent is floral-sweet. The longevity is above-average. The production was apparently discontinued.

No Bunga-Bunga with Chunga!
One of my own fragrances only gets 60% from me. Yet it perfectly matches my type!

The pyramid is certainly impressive, but somehow Chunga feels to me like an Italian gigolo: big entrance, quick number, and then it's all over!

I was expecting something cozy, something with an oriental character and of course corresponding longevity.

But from the moment I spray it on until it runs out of air, it lasts just three hours on me. And that's with an extrait!

The opening is somewhat herb-bitter-bergamot-like directly on the skin, but already in the projection, this soft, sweet, oriental note becomes noticeable, which weakens minute by minute.

After half an hour, the gigantic sillage has turned into a rather moderate one, and Chunga has also lost significant depth by now. What remains could easily be worn to the office, but beware: the erotic note is still perceptible and only fades after about 2 hours.

After that, a pleasant, slightly sweet and very lightly spicy scent remains, which can only be detected in the third hour if you pin your nose to your wrist.

I told you, gigolo scent! Acting all tough and nothing behind it! So for Bunga-Bunga, this is far from enough! Should I pour the whole bottle over myself at once???

Honey-Sweet Temptation
It has now been 15 years since my grandparents' drugstore was closed, but I still remember too well how we packed all the collected works, still in their original packaging + sealed, into boxes from the storage rooms on the first floor of the house.

At that time, I rescued part of the "old treasures" from being sold at a flea market through my aunt, including Chunga by Weil in various sizes: Parfum de Toilette in 59, 118, and 238 ml splash bottles, as well as the 61 + 120 ml atomizer versions + one each of the Extrait in 10 ml spray + 15 ml splash.

Unfortunately, only one is still completely full (61 ml atomizer), most I actually used myself, and the others were given to good hands, who, like me, have fallen for the fragrance creations from Rue Courtambert. :-)

Chunga was for me one of the best scents produced in the 70s. Honey-sweet-floral, silky and balsamic, very alluring and quite androgynous. Harmoniously balanced floral notes meet earthy-oily components. Magnificent!

As with the old versions of Antilope, Weil de Weil, and Padisha, I also break a lance for Chunga, that this scent, worn by men as well, does not miss its effect ;-)

Opening a Photo Album
The perfume house Weil (founded in 1928 by Marcel Weil in Paris) was originally a fur house, the top address of the Paris fashion scene.
The first fragrances were created at the request of their female customers and were named after fur-bearing animals - Zibeline (Sable)

In 1940, they emigrated to the USA as their company was confiscated by the Nazis. They continued to work there, and -secret de venus- was created.
In 1944, they returned to Paris.
Throughout the 1960s, the company’s buildings fell into disrepair, and Weil was bought by an Algerian family.
Claude and Jean Pierre Weil remained as perfumers in the house.

Their last fragrance "Chunga" was launched in 1977, although the Weil brothers had already left the company in 1971 and 1974 respectively. The fragrances continued to be sold under their name until the end of the 1970s.

Chunga
This fragrance is for me like opening a photo album.
I grew up in the countryside. In our attic stood a huge old wardrobe, filled to the top with my grandmother's and mother's old clothes from their younger years.
For us kids, it was the greatest joy to slip into these old clothes.
When we opened the wardrobe doors, this scent greeted us:
Flowers...Lily of the Valley...Jasmine....

Chunga smells just like that!
At first, you only smell Lily of the Valley, perhaps mixed with a bit of Jasmine.
After a while, it fades. The scent becomes softer, calmer, more vanilla-like.
Simply beautiful!!!

Who needs a photo album when you have Chunga????
A classic that can easily compete with many modern fragrances, even surpassing them effortlessly!!!

Lush, intense, citrusy, fruity, floral - strong blooms, heavy like liquid honey with amber, vanilla, and musk.

It's too old-fashioned for me, ... Too heavy, ... I don't like it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
For the grande dame? In mink?
