Moroccanoil finally listened to their fans and did it!
I owned a full bottle of Brumes du Maroc way back at the start of my journey, so when I heard that Moroccanoil was doing a perfume, I was ecstatic to try it out.

I absolutely love Moroccanoil as a brand. I own quite a few products from them. I have the Moroccanoil Treatment Light Hair Oil for Fine Hair, Protect & Prevent Spray, Body Butter Moisturizer, Shower Gel Cleanser and the Night Body Serum. I also have their Purifying Pre-Wash Scalp Scrub and their Intense Hydrating Mask. So let's just say I know what Moroccanoil products are supposed to smell like. When comparing this fragrance to the hair products, I'd say it's a very similar take. The perfume is closer to the hair mist products than the oil treatments. If you're looking to smell like the oil products, Brumes du Maroc is more similar.

It has a very distinctive sharp, almost sour, citrus note and an emphasis on the floral aspect. It's less ambery and warm than the body mist, even though as it dries down, it starts getting there. Citrus notes remain for awhile even though florals do end up taking a bit of the spotlight. It smells fresh, clean and slightly shampooey. Very nice! Like I said in the body mist review, it's not a scent I want to wear on my body (although I love it in my hair), so it won't be making it into a full bottle, but I'm super happy Moroccanoil listened to their fans and did a perfume. It's something you definitely need to check out if you're a fan of the iconic Moroccanoil products scent!

That's it?
I have never tried Moroccanoil products. To be perfectly honest, I think the famous hair oil is borderline scammy. It consists mainly of the same silicones you get in any cheap old drugstore haircare, with argan oil being further down the ingredient list. So the reason why it's so popular must have something to do with the scent, and I was very curious to try the matching perfume.

Well, if the hair products smell the same as the perfume, I understand the hype even less.
To me this scent feels quite masculine and harsh. It has a bit of that warm, oily hair salon scent, like a vaguely floral, nourishing hair mask and blowdryer air. But on top of that, there is a sharpness that reminds me more of "sporty" men's shower gels than anything else. Really confusing, I did not expect that. None of the notes really stand out. Vanilla and violet are completely absent. It's just a vague mixture of florals, a touch of lemon and woodsy, musky notes.
The drydown is a little nicer and more floral, feminine leaning than the opening.

I don't know if this fragrance smells like the other products. If you know and like them, it might be worth a try - if not, it's completely skippable. Not the worst thing I've ever smelled, honestly not really offensive at all, but just not that great.

Old Love with a Surprise
The wonderful scent of the hair oil made me discover Parfumo years ago. I was so enamored with this scent of the oil and wanted to know if there was something similar as a perfume.
When I recently found out that it is now also available as a perfume, I naturally wanted to have it. At the moment, it is not so easy to get. I mainly found it on the Moroccanoil website.

Upon the first spray, the big surprise came: “I know this scent somehow?! And not from the hair oil…. It smells like Prada L'Homme!” And it wasn't just me who thought so. My sweetie felt the same way. It really has the same DNA. At least on my skin, the two scents smell very, very similar.

Similarity of the two scents
The small differences are: The Prada performs better and is a little bit more powdery and zesty. The Moroccanoil is just slightly creamier.

The scent
The scent itself is initially slightly citrusy, which quickly fades and then transforms into creamy, slightly zesty flowers combined with soft woods. Very nice, pleasant, and somehow different.

Conclusion
I like it, but I prefer to wear Prada L'Homme, which, contrary to its name, is more of a unisex scent for me. On me, both scents smell almost identical. The Moroccanoil scent is a tad more feminine. I no longer use the hair oil, but I believe I remember it smelling a bit different. I should test that again.
It is definitely a scent worth trying, even if it is not so easy to obtain. Especially if you, as a woman, are into non-typically feminine scents and don’t want to have a L'Homme bottle lying around.

A Beautiful Vacation
To get straight to the point:

I think the scent is great! While tropical flowers like Monoi or Frangipani often come across as too cloying and old-fashioned for me, this fragrance starts off with a citrus-sweet violet. After about 1.5 to 2 hours, woody notes join in, blending well with the top notes.
This is what a vacation in the Caribbean smells like to me. I am transported to a Caribbean beach, perhaps in the late afternoon: I feel free, relaxed, and full of energy. The sun is shining and it is warm. A light breeze is blowing, preventing it from getting too hot. I sit in the warm sand, bury my feet in it, and watch the sunbeams sparkle on the waves.

What I need now is a bottle of this wonderful fragrance!

Hair Care Oil with Sillage
A very good hair oil with a very nice scent.
So it started off well. Many probably know this feeling.

Then I found an even better hair oil - but with a good, yet not a VERY good scent.

I missed the scent of Moroccanoil.

Then finally! It came as a perfume! I had to have it and I was not disappointed.

When spraying, it stings a bit in my nose, the scent is also initially more synthetic to me than that of the oil. This is probably in the nature of the thing.

But after a few minutes, the scent balances out. It lasts quite a long time and finally has the sillage that I always wished for in the hair oil.

Some problems resolve themselves on their own - dreams do sometimes come true!

The beautifully-creamy/soapy floral DNA from their curl cream (I use it on my hair) is taken over here by chokingly-synthetic aldehydes.

Smells quite similar to the Moroccanoil products with better longevity! Smells closer to the hair mists products than the oil though.

As a big fan of the hair oil, I took a blind buy and wasn't disappointed. It does start off a bit fresher and more bitter, though.
