Candy Shop delight

A perfume which was on sale before it disappeared completely - a limited Christmas edition and I had missed all the limited Winter editions before.

"Mallow" is too unspecific for me to identify it with a plant, "mauve" however is a wild mallow with a light purple colour. On the box they refer to violets, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Candied Mallows/Mauves Cristallisées starts with almond, sweet almonds as in marzipan. After a while I can sense the musk, the sweetness of the tonka beans and something faintly flowery (mallow and rose?). This is not a complex perfume and you have to spray in several layers to get a stronger and longer lasting smell. If you don't like gourmand and sweet perfumes, it is not for you. It has some following - some say it is close to other Winter editions - but it is discontinued. So, if you miss(ed) this, look out for the next editions - who knows, they might be close.

Airy-Almond Scent

This is my first (but definitely not my last!) Christmas fragrance from YR. Ordered blindly and not disappointed. As always with YR fragrances. They are simply made for me. :-)

The almonds at the beginning really smell like the sweet, grated almonds for baking. The rose and violet in the heart note are very subtle. The tonka bean gives it a slightly vanilla-sweet touch, but not overly sweet, and the white musk makes it all beautifully clean. Really nicely and harmoniously crafted, even though it’s not really my usual scent direction. But still light enough to find it pleasant.

Especially during the Christmas season, there are often so many different scents in the air and so many people in close quarters (Christmas parties, concerts, gatherings with family and friends), I find this delicate, skin-like scent really ideal and fitting. It definitely won’t annoy anyone and still smells lovely. However, it is really very delicate and understated (which can already be seen from the listed fragrance notes), and that might be a bit too little for some. I personally prefer subtlety anyway, so it’s not a problem for me. It also lasts well, about 4 hours, and even longer on clothing. You can still perceive it the next day. And very pleasantly too.

However, you do have to press the button several times. But with 50ml and the price, that’s not really a problem.

Tonka in a Pink Tutu

At the first whiff of this delicate little heart, I thought "Oh no." Cheap, silly musk with a piece of sugar cube next to it. But that fades quickly, and it does get a bit better - a sweet little tonka dances onto the stage and swings her pastel floral skirt around quite demurely. In doing so, she stirs up some of the sparkling powdered sugar that’s lying around everywhere. She does this for about three to at most four hours and then has to go watch Sandman. Sounds cute? It is. Perhaps a bit lacking in substance, and it’s more of an afternoon performance than "Dinner and a Show," but nice. Really.
In contrast to the double-D tonka in "Rose Absolue" from the same house, this one here still has tissues in her bra and is very sweet and soft and not so cloying. Nevertheless, "Mauves Cristallisees," especially in the dry down, reminds me of "Rose Absolue," as if it were the diluted children’s version of it.
I initially wanted to choose "Low Performer" as the headline, but that sounds so mean, and I actually quite like this little Christmas treat. However, one should be aware before purchasing that this is a VERY delicate and understated scent with rather low longevity and not much development.

Sweetness is the Beginning of All Vices

I still fondly remember my vacation in Nice, during which I visited almost all the local fragrance factories. I also acquired numerous scents and fragrant accessories, right down to the white chocolate with candied violets, whose scent was so heavenly (and its price equally high) that I had to overcome myself to taste it.

It was a fireworks display of olfactory orgasms, there in the vicinity of Grasse and Nice. What does all this have to do with the candied mallows from Yves Rocher? A whole lot! Firstly, the top note of the fragrance reminds me of that chocolate, and secondly, I also detected a similarity to a shower gel that I believe I purchased at Molinard, which was called Mauve. It had a creamy sweet marshmallow note that I found indescribably delicious but not sticky. I never found that shower gel again, so I was glad to have found something comparable when I got to know the washing lotion Mauves Cristallisees. Gradually, I also bought other products from this limited series, only to ultimately give in - and also purchase the fragrance. The Yves Rocher scents have the disadvantage of not being particularly long-lasting, and therefore I am always in doubt whether I should buy a fragrance from this company when it is hardly perceptible after just a few minutes.
But MC is too delicious. And the price is hot.
Suitable for ladies who, like me, are not averse to sugary treats in fragrances, and who don’t mind powder bombs being a bit dusty!

Pink Sugared Mallow Pouch

~ Inspiration ~
I received one of her bunker bottles from Veri83 after I was completely taken with the sample and searched for it here.

~ Bottle ~
The small bottle is adorned with 3 pink flowers from the heart note.
The name "Candied Mallows" translates to "gezuckerte Malven".

~ Scent ~
Sugared almonds blend with delicate powdery violets, creamy mallows, and roses. Vanilla tonka beans and musk create a soft, fluffy base.

~ Longevity ~
Unfortunately, it lasts only about 3 hours on my skin (a bit longer on clothing and hair). The sillage remains close to the body, so you can comfortably use several sprays.

~ Occasion ~
A clean, subtle scent that can be worn all year round (even to the office).

~ Conclusion ~
It reminds me of those little sugared almond pouches that are usually given as guest gifts at weddings or baptisms.

Tip: If "L'Instant Magic" is too strong, you might want to try this pink cloud.
