Fresh grapefruit & creamy coconut: the seductive aura of Cococaine.
Marc Gebauer & the guys from Olakala have really surprised us with their collaboration! With "Cococaine | Marc Gebauer", the men have created a remarkable fragrance that uniquely combines both fresh and exotic elements:
Let's begin...
The opening is defined by a beautiful vibrant grapefruit note that leaves a tangy & citrusy first impression.
However, this citrusy freshness does not remain alone in the spotlight for long, as it is quickly joined by a soft, creamy coconut that lends the fragrance an exotic, almost tropical warmth.
However, this coconut is by no means obtrusively sweet or penetrating, but remains elegant & actually quite well balanced.
Personally, this type of coconut reminds me very slightly of "Casamorati - Quattro Pizzi | XerJoff", but at its core it remains undoubtedly independent.
After a short while, musk also asserts itself in the composition.
This note gives the fragrance depth and a subtle sensuality without being overpowering.
In its entirety, the fragrance also has associations with tanning/sun cream, which makes it an excellent summer companion (e.g. by the sea).
The floral accents, especially tuberose & jasmine, also add a floral, slightly powdery dimension that adds sophistication.
This floral interplay even reminds me a little of one of my favorite Gebauer fragrances, Amorist.
As far as longevity is concerned, the fragrance is totally fine on my skin. Especially in the first few hours, a pleasant sillage unfolds, but it remains subtle enough not to be intrusive in everyday life (e.g. in the office).
An interesting comparison can be made here with Marzocco Extrait de Parfum. Both fragrances share the characteristic of an independent and at the same time unmistakable DNA that is subtle yet powerful. Both also shine with the aforementioned "restrained elegance" and ability to attract attention without being loud - the Marzocco Extrait de Parfum in a sparkling/soft way, while "Cococaine | Marc Gebauer" with creamy coconut and floral freshness creates a more relaxed yet luxurious atmosphere - without wanting to be a "beast" in the H/S.
The versatility is particularly worth mentioning here.
The fragrance can easily be worn all year round, but in my opinion it shows its true strength in summer or in warm/hot temperatures and unfolds its floral/sweet accents particularly beautifully.
The bottle itself has a simple design, with a solid spray head and a practical magnetic cap that round off the elegant overall look.
I would definitely think it would be cool if this magnetic cap could be found on each of Marc's future fragrances. However, as this is probably only a limited edition of the bottle, which will be replaced by the usual bottle with the next edition (current batch sold out - new quantities - to follow next year), this is rather unlikely. But what is not, may yet be!
To sum up, I can say that I think "Cococaine | Marc Gebauer" by Marc Gebauer & Olakala is a successful release and would recommend it to anyone looking for a blend of fresh citrus notes/exotic coconut and floral elegance.
For me, this is 100% a unisex crowd pleaser that works perfectly both in everyday life and on special occasions thanks to its gentle but powerful composition, without causing headaches (for yourself or others) and can and will definitely attract compliments.
