Dior Homme Intense with a Twist
The Dior Homme Intense (2011) is for me one of the most beautiful designer fragrances ever, and this unmistakable iris note combined with sweetness I find to be an absolutely timeless classic. If you look for cheaper alternatives, you quickly come across fragrances like Kayaan Classic or Gary's Den. I stumbled upon this one by chance, and it is a rather lesser-known contender in the search for the best Dior Homme Intense (2011) alternative.
At the start, you immediately smell the unmistakable Dior Homme Intense (2011) DNA from the fragrance. However, this scent also adds a citrus note, which gives it a unique twist compared to the original. As it develops, the Camaro Homme Intense is also somewhere between the Dior Homme Intense (2011) and the Dior Homme Parfum (2014). Thematically, it seems to go in a similar direction to Gary's Den.
It not only stays true to the Dior Homme Intense (2011) DNA, but also has that slightly leathery note of the Dior Homme Parfum (2014). The citrus note from the opening remains present throughout the fragrance. When it comes to similarity to Dior Homme Intense (2011), the Kayaan Classic is indeed the more related scent. For those who like both the perfume and the intense variant and are undecided, the Camaro Homme Intense presents an interesting and cost-effective alternative. However, if you can't relate to the DNA at all, you can safely steer clear of this one.
Here and there, I have also heard that the scent is supposed to be more aligned with the Dior Homme Intense (2007) variant, but I cannot confirm this as I have never smelled it.
The quality of the fragrance is good; it does not smell cheap or too synthetic, even though it obviously cannot compete with the original. Longevity is unfortunately rather mediocre for me, and here it unfortunately falls in line with the Kayaan Classic. Projection is quite good, but nothing that makes me jump for joy. The packaging is unremarkable, but the bottle is heavy and feels good in the hand. The price-performance ratio is good at just under €30 for 100ml, in a similar price range as the other alternatives.
If you are looking for a twist on the well-known Dior Homme Intense (2011) DNA and are not averse to the perfume variant, I can recommend the Camaro Homme Intense, even if it won't blow you away. However, if you are looking for a 1:1 match, then this fragrance is not the right one. I would also rather recommend Gary's Den for the Dior Homme Parfum (2014), as the Camaro Homme Intense somehow stands between both variants and has something of its own.
