PDM Layton 1:1
Very close to PDM Layton.
Longevity is over 8 hours. The first 4 hours it projects heavy and then it gets closer to the skin , but still holds really good.
On clothes it can easily last all day and more.

The Apple of my Eye
Summarized in one sentence - the best clone of PdM's LAYTON that I have ever experienced. No question that the current notes above are incorrect because it has NOTHING to do with Pegasus - not even a hint. Purchased a tester and from I can tell, it's part of the new white-boxed batches with the lighter coloured juice. Don't care. It's still mag-effing-nificent.

Terrible shame that it's so difficult to find nowadays, but despite the rising prices, I'd legit pay double for what it was originally going for, it's that good. Up close, there's an unmistakable chemical harshness in the opening from what I can tell is a geranium/minty accord. Otherwise, it's a piercing blast of warm, stewed apple with a thin glaze of caramel. Combined with that uplifting mintiness in the background, it's one of the best renditions of apple pie or strudel I've ever smelled - FAR moreso than Hugo Boss #6, which is actually a woody VANILLA fragrance with some bright, synthetic fruitiness up top.

After about 15 minutes, the sillage is basically identical to Layton. And it keeps on kickin' and kickin' for a solid 8 hours plus. Plenty of projection to go around. Careful when smelling it up close though. After a good 24 hours of sitting on paper, I went in for a sniff and that chemical harshness nearly made me recoil. Bit gross actually. Wasn't projecting as much, but the difference in quality was significant. Nevertheless, the performance and sillage are EASILY worth the compromise. On clothing, I could even pick up subtle whiffs of Carlisle over the next couple of days. Would've bought a couple of backups if the stock hadn't run out so quickly.

As far as the bottle goes....yeah it sucks. The label was half rubbed off when I got it and there's no batch code or sticker on the bottom. It'll stand up just fine, but the cap is awfully cheap and you have to point the atomizer to the side instead of the front in order to get a good grip on it (the side in which the cap 'points' for a right-hander). Tip - when replacing the cap, point it on a slight diagonal until it goes all the way down and then turn it flush. Yeah, finicky - plastic - cheap - still don't care. Phenomenal apple pastry fragrance. Definitely could use a bit of refinement to get that hint of minty chemical weirdness out of there; but other than that, a near perfect copy. As fat Tony's associate would say, "Supuyb!"

Layton's Twin? An Unbelievable $20 Dupe
Let's be honest, Layton is fantastic, but the price tag? Ouch. This $20 dupe, however, is shockingly close. While a trained nose might detect subtle differences—a touch more apple and initial alcohol, slightly less spice and menthol, and a bit more vanilla in the dry down—the overall impression is remarkably similar. In the air, no one will be able to tell the difference. My own family couldn't distinguish between the two in a blind test. Sure, Layton has a richer, more natural feel, but for a fraction of the cost, this dupe delivers incredible performance with great longevity and projection. Insane value is an understatement.

PDM Layton on a Budget
Let's not beat around the bush here; Detour Noir is a 90-95% accurate clone of Parfum de Marly's Layton. It's definitely not as smooth and well blended as Layton in the opening, but the dry downs are basically indistinguishable from each other. I tested it with a sample of Layton I received and not a single person I asked could tell the two apart. Al Haramain really nailed it this time around. Smells like a masculine and spicy apple pie. If you enjoy the scent profile but don't want to pay $300+ dollars for it, Detour Noir is an excellent alternative for 1/10 the price of the original. And despite the hideous bottle, the atomizer is pressurized and one of the best on any of my fragrances. This one is an easy buy from me.

The closest relative
It starts with an explosion of almond, then the wonderful vanilla comes in (reminiscent of PDM Layton) that continues screaming and strongly projecting this almond/vanilla aroma. Then something kind of woody comes in, I think it's cedar or sandalwood.

It continues to exhale this velvety mixture of almond with the creaminess of vanilla. During its transformation, I felt something floral in the middle, but quite faint.

Excellent scent for autumn days and I would even say on spring nights, because the vanilla doesn't get that sweet thing that gets sick easily.

It has a great similarity with PDM Layton, I would even venture to say that it is the best low-cost option as an alternative. Of course, in PDM the notes have a much higher quality and an absurd fixation, but believe me that Al Haramain did an excellent job of approximation.

It may seem synthetic (for the price and natural as it is), but I didn't find it that synthetic, the notes work in such great harmony!

Sweet and thick just as it's inspiration Layton. Citrussy apple with sweet caramel and vanilla. It's an "in your face" fragrance for sure.

Floral, with a kind of dried apple, and vanilla on drydow.
The ratio perfomance, quality / price is amazing.
