Aldehydes as far as the nose can smell
I wanted to love this fragrance SO much. I was gifted a bottle by Parfumo and I eagerly waited and check the tracking every day. I read everything I could about the perfumer and found a few video reviews, all of which were positive. I love all the notes in it, and I can tolerate aldehydes, even though they're not my favorite.
Finally, the day arrives. I open the package, take out the bottle and the first spray is glorious. I smell green meadows and river rocks, a little citrus, wildflowers and a hint of smokey spice. It's addictive. I can't get enough of it. Then someone throws an aldehyde grenade. It's overwhelming. My nose itches. All I smell is kerosene. The first spectacular spray is gone and I'm heartbroken. So I tested it, hoping it would mellow. It spent 24 hours on my skin, on a blotter strip and on my clothes. The aldehydes barely mellow. I catch a tiny bit of other notes they're fleeting. It's a tragedy. My first truly niche perfume and it's intolerable.
I package it back up, thinking I may sell it. One day my sister is over and I give it to her to test, Her taste is the polar opposite of mine and of course she loves it. She's a Juliet Has a Gun Not a Perfume girlie. A Chanel (although not No. 5) girlie. So f you love your aldehydes, this may be a masterpiece for you. But for me? A 3 day migraine.
