Extremely Black is the New Black
Yes, here it is, the Eau de Parfum version of the fragrance "Pure Black" from the Italian designer house "Mandarina Duck"!

This is the black bottle with the golden lettering, the gold-colored plastic cap that actually resembles a duck's bill a bit at the top, and - very importantly - the characteristic round dent on the back that is typical for Mandarina Duck. Overall, the bottle - let's be honest - does not appear particularly high-quality. The same goes for the spray head, which always accompanies its function with a slight squeaking sound for me. Not cool, but within my tolerance range. The sound of the rather flashy name immediately brings associations to other "black" fragrances: Trussardi's "Black Extreme," "Lapidus pour Homme Black Extreme," or conversely "Extreme Black" by Red Logo, to name a few.

What could have prompted the creators of the listed namesakes to their sensational titles, I cannot comprehend. With this fragrance here, it is quite clear in my opinion: At its core are the dried, mostly black seeds found in the fruit of the tonka bean tree, which exude a sweet, vanilla-like scent.

"Black Extreme" opens (squeak!) with a very prominent tonka bean, which is, however, kept in check by the distinctly noticeable synthetic bergamot. This very pleasant first impression is rounded off by both an orange and a spice note. Already in the first seconds, it becomes clear that while the fragrance is fundamentally generic in light of the wide-ranging tonka bean competition, it still retains a piece of individuality thanks to the contributing southern fruits.

In any case, the basic character of the opening continues into the drydown phase. The transition is largely linear, except for the increasingly noticeable creaminess and the delicate cedarwood note that gains space. Additionally, my impression solidifies that - although not listed here - leather also plays a part on the sidelines.

Overall, "Black Extreme" remains a noticeably sweet fragrance, but in my view, not too sweet, which can be worn all day long and regardless of the occasion, especially due to its subtle fruitiness. Although it is certainly primarily designed as an autumn and winter fragrance, I believe it can be worn year-round, except for the very hot summer days. It projects well in the first three hours, but then takes a step back until it ultimately becomes intimate after seven to eight hours.

Rumors that it bears a strong resemblance to "Uden" in the base, I cannot confirm or deny due to a lack of comparison material. However, solid insights on this are warmly welcomed in the comments section!

Personally, I really like the fragrance. Moreover, at the current prices of 20 - 25 euros for 100 ml (although discontinued), it is an absolute no-brainer for lovers of tonka-based fragrances. And - yes, the fragrance is suitable for everyone!

I sincerely hope that this relatively short comment has helped some undecided individuals in their decision-making, and I thank you as always for reading!

It's what you get if you take CAHSEE and make it slightly sweeter, warmer and add vanilla in the base. Peppery and sweet orange with tonka.

Tiare in a men's fragrance, great idea, but hardly noticeable. Sweet-spicy-warm, not stale, with tonka, vanilla, and orange.

Spicy/warm charmer that, despite its sweetness, never feels overwhelming and even has a subtle freshness to it. Well done!

Sugar + Cinnamon, the game begins. Not exactly sugar + cinnamon, but this sweet-spicy combo makes this scent irresistible for sweet tooths.

Fruity, warm, and sweet scent with a distinctly oriental touch. For the price, it's a top fragrance with solid longevity and sillage in a great bottle.

Charming scent! It starts fruity and peppery, then the tonka bean begins to work its magic! Soft, creamy, cozy, sweet. Simply beautiful :-)
