Elegant and warming. Vanilla on a date with something slightly dark
Vanilla in Bourbon is a really superficial vanilla fragrance for me. In this respect, the name fits really well. But the name also says "Bourbon".
Admittedly, I am looking in vain for something tipsy in the direction of bourbon. You won't find any kind of whiskey or anything similar here.
For me, the fragrance starts directly with this great vanilla note, which is already noticeably slightly dark in the background. I emphasize "slightly" because it never gets really dark. This type of vanilla, as it is realized, can perhaps be compared to a vanilla from an Angelique Noire by Guerlain or the unfortunately discontinued Oud - Black Vanilla Absolute by Perry Ellis. A vanilla that even has almost slightly balsamic vibes and simply gives off a certain warmth.
The vanilla is complemented by a few well-used spices such as cinnamon in particular, but also a little cardamom. Furthermore, everything is a little "ambery" and you also get a pleasant woody impression.
The whole thing is surrounded by a gentle veil of incense.
From time to time I also had the feeling of sniffing a kind of dark cocoa, baking cocoa or slightly earthy cocoa. This went well with the balsamic vanilla notes.
Admittedly, this fragrance doesn't knock my socks off. I had higher expectations, but why?
I don't know.
Basically, though, it's definitely not a bad fragrance and you can wear it really well.
But if you're looking for something bourbon, you're in the wrong place.
