Minty freshness
If you love cooking with herbs, you'll appreciate the herbal minty freshness of Gréasque Extrait de Parfum. I'm a huge fan of green profile scents, especially those that remind me of the women in my family, whose hands always smelled of thyme, and rosemary, and basil. They were amazing gardeners and cooks whose love translated into food for their loved ones.

Gréasque Extrait de Parfum is savory, but it's also a bit fruity-sweet, thanks to the blackcurrant. Then the peppermint takes over and dominates throughout, the other notes simply adding a hint of flavor to it. It's almost like receiving a dégustation platter of different types of peppermint tea; you get to experience peppermint tea with a hint of cloves, peppermint tea with a touch of caramel, and even a slightly bitter, earthy tea with woody bits.

The silage and performance are moderate and it might have been something I'd have added to my Wishlist, except that the price is too prohibitive and I happen to love another minty scent, 2# Nota di Viaggio (Shukran…), which despite poor longevity, happens to be the perfect Moroccan mint tea and nothing else will do.

A Slightly Different Summer Fragrance
I am currently testing all the fragrances from the house of Sora Dora and I must say that Sora Dora is really doing a great job.
Of course, there are fragrances that don't appeal to everyone, but overall the quality and the "craftsmanship" are simply superb. At least so far!

"Brocéliande | Sora Dora" completely convinced me and I had to get it immediately.
"Mandorle | Sora Dora" was a well-crafted fragrance, but it doesn't quite fit my DNA.

Recently, I took a closer look at "Greasque | Sora Dora" and I must say I don't quite understand the negative reviews and opinions.

Sure, it is not a "mainstream" fragrance or one that is heavily hyped on social media, but for me, after testing so many fragrances, it was something comforting, new, and different, finally!
No nuances or inspirations from fragrances that are already very common and often circulated.

About the scent:

"Greasque | Sora Dora" starts off very deeply minty. Not that menthol mint, but rather a natural mint that is also very grass-green.
The opening truly reminds one of grass with this natural mint note.
Shortly after the singular, grassy start, the mint continues to dominate but this time with a very authentic basil note and a slight nuance of bergamot.

A light woody note joins in over time and becomes stronger.
Unfortunately, I tested the fragrance in January during the cold, but I think this fragrance will perform much better in summer, as it seems to be perfect for summer or at least warmer days.

Over time, the scent becomes spicier and the clove note is well recognizable.
However, the main player remains basil with the fine mint note.
Additionally, the pepper lightly tickles the nose.

The fragrance reminds me a lot of certain eco-gums, and I can understand why some say it reminds them of Wrigley's Spearmint, yet I find that the scent does not come across as artificial as the mentioned gums but rather more natural, like eco/bio gums.

Unfortunately, the fragrance quickly becomes milder and is very close to the skin, making it less perceivable.
Sadly, this happens after about 3 hours.
Nevertheless, it remains detectable and one notices that the scent becomes slightly fruitier and another light spicy note joins in. I guess it’s the nutmeg sage note, but I’m not entirely sure.

In the drydown, the fragrance changes again and the caramel note comes through nicely paired with a dark woody note. The main players from the beginning are hardly perceivable anymore, and although it is still slightly detectable, the projection is really very, very low to hardly noticeable.
In the end, a certain "charred wood note" remains, but in a nice way :-D

I find this fragrance really well done and the scent progression is present and very pleasing.
For summer, it is truly a dream.
The only downside, unfortunately a very big one, is the sillage. The fragrance projects very, very poorly and the longevity is also a bit of an issue. It lasts well and long, but you really have to search for the scent to recognize it and perceive its progression as described above.
Maybe it will be different in summer, but during the test, it was really miserable.
Nevertheless, I am considering getting this one, as this fragrance is simply something different and also really a very successful scent that could give off a wonderful fresh, green mint kick on warm days, which could be brilliant.

So let’s wait and see how it performs in summer.

Peppery Herb House
The Greasque is quite a special scent that can be polarizing. Personally, I also have my issues with this type of fragrance as a perfume. It smells almost like a spicy herb kitchen.

The scent lists basil as a main player, and yes, you can definitely smell the basil. Furthermore, I even felt like I smelled more parsley, even though parsley is not listed. Quite crazy sometimes.
A bit of mint adds to the herbal impression of this fragrance.
Spices also come into play.

Over time, pepper plays a good role as well. The Greasque becomes peppery, or the herbs get an additional peppery touch.

In general, I don't know if one wants to smell like this. For me, it's not my thing. But everyone has to decide for themselves, so one should just test the fragrance.

Unfortunately, I can't detect a significant scent progression. As soon as the pepper kicks in, it's basically over.
It doesn't take long for the scent (at least for me) to dissipate.
First it's spicy/herbaceous, then the peppery aspect comes in, and afterward, it's done.
The performance is therefore not the best.

In summary, the Greasque comes across as greenish, slightly fresh due to the mint, and spicy.

Green - Color of Hope
The last scent from the wonderful Sora Dora Wanderbrief brought me Greasque. No reviews so far, so let’s go

Opening:
Sprayed on, ready & go - right from the start, a green cloud of fragrance rushes into my nose. It’s basil, which is the first to reveal itself.
Mint tries to catch up right behind, but it has somewhat missed the start and thus temporarily takes second place.
In the back, somewhat isolated, pepper, clove, and a wood representative are in a neck-and-neck race for the podium spot.

Fragrance development:
The basil, due to the spectacular start, seems exhausted and is running out of steam. The mint secures first place with more stamina.
Pepper and clove share bronze, achieving the same time.

Conclusion or award ceremony:
Simply put, here you get freshly picked basil with a refreshing mint that, as already mentioned in the statements, reminds me of Wrigley’s spearmint gum. In the background, the spices resonate for me, giving the whole thing the needed depth.
However, before I could properly recognize any further notes, the scent had already faded away. Vetiver base (?) can be sensed towards the end, but it all collapses like a house of cards.

Green-dominant scents are something you have to like; I don’t like them.
For me, it remains a nasal horror instead of a nasal delight.

Cheers

Fresh basil and mint open like a herb garden. Interestingly, the citrus waits its turn and only shows up later.

After the summer rain in the herb garden, picking mint + basil. Fresh, green, herbal. Tart blackcurrants + a hint of violet. Too green for me.

Basil - then mint - then clove. It radiates a bit more courage; I really like basil in fresher settings. Top!

Green-fresh and minty scent with a slight sharpness, a hint of herbaceousness, later a slightly powdery undertone - green freshness is in the foreground.

Wow? I just got beamed from the city to my grandma's herb garden. How wonderful the scent of basil + mint is! Pure nostalgia...
