An autumn almond extract + musky cherry dessert
If you love Velvet Petals or Everlasting Magic , you might enjoy this - because it feels like a combination of the two. It's a sweet-but-dark musky cherry & almond extract dessert - perfect for cooler weather. Breaking down the notes, I get:
[50% musky cherry]
- not quite black cherry, as it lacks the "tartness"
- not as vibrant as traditional cherry, either (not overly candied, not syrupy like "Maraschino", and not medicinal or "cough syrup" thankfully)
- almost like a combination of darker cherry pie filling + subtle woodsy musk
[40% pure almond extract]
- not regular almonds, as those can be a bit salty, overly nutty, or have a "Play Doh" feel at times
- not almond liqueur, as it there isn't an overly boozy quality to this
- very distinctly almond extract: a perfect balance of nutty almond, alcohol, and sweet warmth
[10% creamy tonka bean + jasmine]
- very much a blend of the two notes, rather than being distinctive
- the jasmine doesn't come across as floral but instead creamy, augmenting the tonka bean
- the tonka bean feels like a full-bodied vanilla
- the combination of the two notes gives a creamy undertone to the rest of the fragrance
I don't get pistachio or rose in this at all. It's beautiful, and I instantly think of autumn: sweaters, fall leaves, cozy nooks and musky-fruit desserts - not any one dessert in particular, but it does allude to them (cherry cobbler, cherry pie, etc.) without any "baked goods"/dough notes.
Decent projection, excellent sillage, and okay longevity - I could still smell it strongly within 2 hours, but at the 4 hour point it was already quiet (obviously that's less than great for an EDP - but for a bottle that's less than $20 USD, that's alright to me).
