Velvet Petals Victoria's Secret 2017

Despite the notes listed and the name, this is not particularly floral at all. If anything I think there might be a creamy jasmine as a supporting player in the mid - but it's still subtle and mostly in the background. Instead, this feels like a beautifully-boozy marzipan.

The almond portion of the booze-soaked marzipan does become slightly more toasted in the base - but it remains fairly linear, and has an overall sweet, creamy, and musky-ambery feel throughout wear. To my nose, this blend is perfect for cooler months.

I get a solid 6 hours of performance, becoming softer at the 4-5 hour mark - but still impressive for a mist. The projection is not as loud, but the sillage is decent - leaving a lovely scent trail whenever moving my arms.

Like other Victoria's Secret "core" fragrances that have been around for many years ( Bombshell Eau de Parfum, Bare Vanilla, Coconut Passion Fragrance Mist, Love Spell Fragrance Mist, Pure Seduction Fragrance Mist), Velvet Petals also seems to have changed a bit over time. To me, the most recent iterations of all their core scents feel flatter, have less dimension, fade more quickly, and in some cases feel clearly more synthetic - so it's best to try them in store, and possibly look for an older version on resale platforms.

With that said, my bottle is (and therefore, my review is also centered on) a version from 2021. I do think this is one worth hunting down an older version of, as there's a noticeable difference to me (in the ways mentioned above) between what's in store now and the older bottle I own. absolutely love this one. i didn't actually purchase it until really recently since i have snowflakes and cashmere, which is very very similar, but this is just a bit fresher and more floral. it's a perfect year-round scent that's got enough depth for cooler weather but enough floral freshness for spring. it smells a bit generic but it's also got a creamy depth and a general coziness that's hard to dislike. it's perfume-like but sooo cozy and lovely. longevity and performance are on the stronger side for victoria's secret's mists surprisingly too!

I bought he shimmer version. Fragrance is awesome. However I found it similar to the Japanese cherry blossom body lotion by BBW.
However this does not worth the price. I bought it at 1000 in sale. Still it does it worth. The fragrance last for maximum 20 mind and that's also close to skin. Almost 0 projection and longevity. Usually shimmer versions lasts long. But in this case shimmer version id performing like this.
