My Entry into the World of Perfume
I stumbled into the world of perfume in 2019 through the natural deodorant creams from Wolkenseifen. I was always fascinated by how masculine/fresh these deodorants smell. At some point, I bought the matching EdP "Manpower" and "On the Rocks"; and I was not disappointed.
That's why I was a bit surprised that this perfume has been rated so poorly so far. I now have over 100 perfumes, and I would still prefer Manpower over many other expensive perfumes in my collection, also because many of them are simply not suitable for everyday wear, e.g., Dior Homme Parfum or Interlude and other oriental scents. And my female colleagues have confirmed this to me as well. They simply love Manpower.
Yes, the first citrusy seconds are a bit harsh, but that's the case with many perfumes.
The company Wolkenseifen is known as a natural cosmetics company, so I hardly believe there is much synthetic material in it. But one would have to inquire directly there. At this price, it would be possible. On the other hand, with many expensive designer perfumes, despite the synthetic materials, you pay much more for the brand name.
However, I definitely cannot confirm the described similarity to Dior Sauvage. No, in my opinion, it does not smell like a peppery Ambroxan bomb at all. If anything, Manpower has some similarity to Dior Homme Intense.
Yes, really, the first thing that stands out to me after the citrusy opening is the intense powderiness, but here without iris, instead with blue agave. I assume it is the agave, as I have not smelled this note anywhere else, and this note can sometimes be a bit intense. Perhaps this rare note is perceived as sharply synthetic for that reason.
But that's already it with the similarity to Dior Intense. After that, it goes with the warm cinnamon/amber/chocolate note a bit towards Bleu de Chanel with chocolate. However, it always remains masculine-powdery-fresh, and never too sweet.
I cannot assess the similarity to Jo Malone Blue Agava & Cacao, I would need to order a sample.
Longevity is good, especially on textiles it lasts a very long time. Definitely no dilution like with Dior Intense. The sillage is also strong, so don't spray too much, perhaps better to use in winter. The sillage is particularly well received by women. But probably everyone perceives the scent differently. Maybe first order a sample or deodorant.
The perfume bottle... well,... the older chic glass bottles were definitely prettier, the newer bottles could be refilled again. I don't know with what, maybe good for layering with other perfumes. ;-)
At 50 euros for 100ml, the price/performance ratio is absolutely unbeatable.
By the way, I can recommend the natural Wolkenseifen deodorants (without aluminum) at any time; they last about 2 days and simply smell great. With shea butter and sodium bicarbonate, they are definitely more skin-friendly than all the artificial aluminum deodorants.
