Diamond Fever
When I spray myself with White Diamonds, Knowing immediately comes to mind. But the two fragrances have nothing in common at all, only similarities in the base. The top note and heart note are completely different. They don't even come from the same "stable", so there can be no family resemblance. Both are straight, American and maybe I see or smell a relationship there.

WD starts with sparkling, fresh Neroli that tickles in the nose, but never stings or is unpleasant. Aldehydes give a short rendezvous and leave the field quite quickly to the beguiling lily, which never gets pompous or nasty. Despite jasmine, the fragrance does not drift in the direction of sweetness, as the carnation provides a subtle spice and the rose does not push itself into the foreground. The composition is extremely well-balanced and beautifully balanced. The amber briefly provides warmth until moss and patchouli steer the fragrance in a tart direction. Slightly tart yes, but never masculine.

WD is a classic and, in a positive sense, ladylike fragrance, which never "old-fashioned" and is a suitable companion for every occasion, as it can also score points with endurance and silage.

Especially now in spring I like to wear WD very much, even with unladylike clothes, because jeans and T-shirt he can easily handle

Glowing rubies
Diamonds and Rubies was a blind purchase, along with 4 other fragrances from Taylor and Arden, respectively, and I am thrilled with all of them without exception, even though they are very different from each other.

The opening is floral, fruity with beautiful plump, juicy peach and subtle lilac. The rose that joins it does not come from the greenhouse. It is a robust, wonderfully fragrant, red garden rose.

I don't smell any spices at the beginning, at most a small pinch of allspice. I can't make out jasmine and orchid, because suddenly it's raining powder, which combines wonderfully with amber and vanilla. It becomes warm and really cuddly and woody joins in. D&R has a distinctive sweetness, but it never gets pompous or even unpleasantly loud.

After about 6 - 7 hours I perceive an animal note, very subtle only, but present. Not sharp or superficially sharp, but for me quite perceptible. I also do not find this note unpleasant, but somehow fitting ... it just has to be. Afterwards there is also a hint of cinnamon, it is really just a touch and the fragrance seems perfect and round. But the real surprise comes much later.

Where other fragrances have long since worn out, D&R is really going crazy again. I wake up from a wonderful scent that doesn't seem to be from this world and only little by little I realize that I am the one who gives off this wonderful scent. It is a mixture of peach, rose, powder, vanilla and amber that seems to glow but doesn't burn you. This wonderful, extraordinary final note is difficult to put into words. All components of head, heart and base combine to a perfect unity and start to glow, almost to glow, from within. A fantastic fragrance Fireworks as the crowning glory.

The durability really blew me away, because with me D&R lasts, hold on, no less than 24 hours and if I hadn't showered, I'm sure it would have lasted even longer. The silage is rather mediocre, but that's because of me and my skin.

Everyone who is enthusiastic about extraordinary oriental fragrances should definitely try D&R.

The Taming of the Shrew..
was a film with the wonderful Liz Taylor and my first thought when spraying Diamonds and Sapphires was of him. There is no better way to describe this fragrance, because it is stubborn and brittle. At least on the first impression.

The greeting is cool and detached, but not unfriendly or even arrogant. There are no hugs or "kiss, kiss, kiss" when getting to know each other. D&S has class and does not bend over. Why also?

The prelude is slightly soapy, but only short. The freesia greets with a lot of green and stays in the foreground for a relatively long time before it connects with the other flowers. Despite jasmine and ylang-ylang, the fragrance never becomes sweet or even exhausting.

Amber, musk and sandalwood give D&S depth, but not warmth in the true sense. This is not a scent that cuddles. At most it leans on you and if you are very lucky, it will snuggle up for a short time. To develop its full radiant power D&S needs warmth. I put it on on a cool day and it was not as present and beautiful as at higher temperatures

You can't go wrong with D&S at all if you like unsweet, green scents. I like to wear it during the day, also with jeans and t-shirt and I would not think of any occasion where it would be inappropriate. But I absolutely do not like to call it "evergreen", because that would devalue the scent. But the other way round, it becomes a shoe, as they say, because D&S also enhances everyday banalities. A touch of luxury for days when you don't have anything extraordinary planned. Of course it fits the big entrance just as well, probably even better. With a shelf life of 8 - 10 hours, you can't complain and I have nothing to criticize about the silage either.

But what I consider to be a real mess is the fact that this wonderful fragrance is being sold off like the others from Taylor, because none of them deserve it.

Elephants from 18
My dears we are not in the Jungle Book here, where the happy, friendly herd of elephants, led by Colonel Hathi, sets off on its early patrol. This is not the children's or family program. This is the adult movies, where the action is really happening. We understand each other? Elephants over 18, so to speak.

To enter the jungle, the herd must pass a settlement. As the grey giants thunder towards them, the humans quickly take refuge. Only a spice stand is knocked down and cinnamon, cloves, cumin and cardamom are hurled through the air, pollinating not only the air but also the bodies of the pachyderms. Under loud trumpets the gigantic animals make their way without stopping.

Finally the jungle is reached. The earth is shaking, the air is vibrating, birds are screeching in flight, small animals disappear in the undergrowth and the herd of elephants tramples through the dense green. Flowers, leaves, fruits and small branches are torn to the ground and mercilessly trampled. But even when dying, these flowers unfold their beguiling scent. It is humid, oppressive, sultry, the world holds its breath, time stands still.

The grey giants have long since moved on. Only now and then a trumpet can be heard in the distance. But in the air there is still a seductive scent of spices, flowers, earth and fascinating, vanilla sweetness, which remains even as twilight sets in. It will also withstand the night, for sure.

Sparkling, fruity, fresh
DKNY Women could be summed up so simply, but the fragrance is not quite so simply knitted after all.

The start is fruity and tangy with tangerine and orange and you really have the feeling to bite into a tangerine or orange with the juice splashing to all sides. No artificial flavour but real juicy orange or tangerine. Quite fast the tomato leaf is added and dims the fruity sweetness with its green-herbal note. Nevertheless tangerine and orange remain present, even if tamed.

I can't recognize any of the flowers listed. I smell an orange, flowery, green overall composition. Only at the very end a vanilla note reaches my nose, probably heliotrope and woody hints with a very, very delicate hint of leather are added.

I was really surprised by the long durability, because 8 - 9 hours I was accompanied by DKNY Women. The silage is not really intoxicating, but rather close to the body, but absolutely okay for a summer scent. You don't want to stress your fellow men unnecessarily at high temperatures.

Even though today is April 20th, the thermometer has climbed to 28° and DKNY Women was a wonderful companion. This will definitely be one of my secret weapons for the hopefully hot summer.
