Halston is back!
I wore Halston back in the day, and I still wear it on occasion in cooler weather. That said, I can clearly sense the lineage to the original Halston, yet Halston Woman is modern & up-to-date. After testing, I read some of the press kit materials, only to learn that this was exactly the intention with this fragrance. Well, they nailed it!

The opening comes on strong with fruit & roses. It quickly settles down, and it begins to seem a bit masculine to me, likely due to the patch. The ambery, woody dry-down is very reminiscent of the original. However, the fragrance never loses touch with its classification, which I think is ... hold your breath ... a fruity floral. Yup, there I said it.

Overall, the fragrance is fairly persistent, just like the original. However, I still find Halston Woman very likable and very wearable. I think lovers of the original Halston -- who don't want to smell like they are stuck in the past - might enjoy this most. I know I do, and it just went on my want list!

There's also a "Halston Woman Amber," which I'm dying to try too, although Halston Sheer & Halston Couture are utterly awful. If Halston Woman is any indication of the re-building of the brand, it just might be that Halston is back!

Family Ties
Today I was greeted with great "fanfare" in my regular perfumery.
I was a bit surprised, as there is usually a rather elegant restraint there - but they also know their "regulars".

Still, I felt very pleased to be welcomed so warmly.
I had actually planned to just "browse" and sniff around, and then leave the store in proud restraint.
However, this intention wavered when I discovered the silver Halston Woman on the shelf.

I already have the Halston EdC, the Sheer, and the Z - shouldn't Woman also be woven into the family ties?
After the first spray, I decided: Yes!

Woman starts pleasantly fruity with bergamot and blackcurrant, and adds a charming spring-like touch through the herbaceous-floral marigold.
An unusual but beautiful ingredient, emphasized by the dark iris.

The jasmine is bright and subtly perceptible, while the rose is sweet and soft.
Amber, patchouli, and sandalwood make the fragrance creamy and even a touch softer.

A cozy scent with skillful transitions from fruity to floral and then to warm oriental - without getting lost.

A walk through various landscapes - very diverse yet relaxing.
Moreover, Woman scores with above-average Halston longevity.

No question - I have introduced Woman to its family members, and I hope it feels well received.
This good feeling is certainly what it conveyed to me.

The Silver Sister
After I was so thoroughly impressed by Halston Woman Amber, I absolutely had to have the older silver sister as well. I ordered it blindly and I was not disappointed by it either.

Halston Woman is not a loud, but a very beautiful fragrance. The bergamot at the beginning is therefore rather quiet and not sharp or harsh. I find it difficult to identify fruits (other than citrus fruits) because I am not a fan of fruit in general and prefer vegetables and salads. Therefore, I would never have been able to pick out the blackcurrant. However, I can recognize the marigold, as I have it in my balcony boxes.

The jasmine is lush, but not intrusive or overly bold, as it forms a wonderful connection with the rose and the powdery/creamy iris root. Buttery soft and creamy delicate, I cannot describe this fragrance experience any other way. But wait, it continues. The fragrance journey is not over yet.

HW becomes even warmer, softer, more cuddly, and if possible, even creamier. I cannot determine which of the base notes adds this special "melt." I suspect that there is also a hint of vanilla involved, because amber with vanilla, in the right proportion, gives me such a cotton-soft impression. It is simply a successful composition - everything fits and integrates wonderfully into the overall concept.

HW is a very friendly, appealing, but also mature fragrance that I like very much. In direct comparison, however, I prefer the more serious, golden sister, but that is, like everything in life, a matter of taste. Why is that? No idea, but this hint of melancholy just seems to touch me more. In terms of longevity (about 10 - 12 hours), the two are equally matched, and I will wear them both enthusiastically, depending on my mood.

Finally, I would like to note that my comment refers to the Eau de Parfum version of Halston Woman. When I searched for the fragrance online, I found that there is also an Eau de Toilette version. Whether and to what extent there are differences, I cannot say, as HW is not divided into EdP and EdT here on Parfumo.

Silverbird
The "Golden" version of this is already wonderful, so I couldn't resist getting the silver HW as well, especially since the pyramid reads very promising.
Halston is simply a guarantee for good and lasting fragrances. The notes are exquisite and the quality is top-notch.
So I am not disappointed with HW either. The opening is fresh and fruity, with the blackcurrant coming through quite strongly and dominantly, but not sour, rather rich and truly dark. I don't perceive the bergamot excessively, the marigold blooms lightly in between but also leaves the spotlight to the blackcurrant. After a moment of freshness, the fragrance becomes a bit softer. The trio of the heart notes skillfully "darkens" the opening note even more into the mystical. From there, the progression becomes very soft and feminine, much more lady than girl, as it was at the beginning. I find that none of the three notes stands out particularly, but rather that they all connect harmoniously and radiate as a unit. This remains the case for a while until the fragrance settles into the base note. It then melts into an extraordinarily fine, cozy, and very elegant feminine phase that is very attractive and flattering. Today it is cold and it is raining heavily. Nevertheless, I am surrounded by a comforting warmth from this scent that makes me almost forget the weather. I feel well taken care of in the breath of HW, as if nothing and no one could harm me. It develops into a feel-good fragrance and savior in adverse temperatures. I almost feel uplifted. I sit up and let its wings carry me to sunny realms. And somehow, the song "Silverbird" comes to mind. Hope, longing, home...I am completely yours.

Half Orient Half Occident
Some time ago, when I entered a perfume shop and spotted and tested "Halston Woman," I didn't have the "Parfumo" experience I have today. I thought it was the Chypre scent "Halston." But that one has a red bottle and not the metallic silver one. Nevertheless, my silver one is also very beautiful (the other one is going on the wish list). "Halston Woman" starts off energetically fruity and citrusy, with a fine "stinky flower (Tagetes)" note that harmonizes well. This part of the fragrance feels rather "European Western." However, what follows in terms of scents has something quite Oriental about it, without wanting to stand out boastfully. A powdery hint of iris joins bright jasmine (not too sweet) and dark red rose (definitely a Turkish one) with a soft velvety aroma. Wonderful, as it is very close to nature. A noble wood base, paired with slightly earthy patchouli, gives the composition additional depth and enormous longevity, without feeling overwhelming or heavy. This Halston scent only vaguely reminds one of other fragrances in its genre. It is very distinctive and easily recognizable. Alongside the oriental nuance, this Eau de Toilette also has something "Italian" about it. Joyful liveliness and "mentality," fine elegance without distant coolness. In some places, it even has a somewhat "playful" quality without any frivolity. And a hint of restrained eroticism (perhaps the amber?). Ultimately, "Halston Woman" is a beautifully wearable scent. I can easily imagine wearing it for a theater visit. Also because, despite its good sillage, it gently envelops the wearer without bothering other noses.

Dark, spicy, powdery, mysterious. A velvety scent with a hint of eroticism & cinnamon. I can feel the heart and base notes of the pyramid.

A reflection of elegant casualness. Blackcurrant inspires with dark freshness and flows from creamy-melting spice into warm-earthy depth.

If you love and miss the old Halston, you won't be happy with this one. It's a floral-mainstream version that doesn't bring anything special.

A tangy, bitter opening is followed by a lovely accord of powdery flowers and creamy-sweet sandalwood. Quite feminine.

The base is to die for... warm-soft amber patch. But the floral journey to get there is too long for me...

What starts fresh and spicy becomes pleasantly floral and ends beautifully warm, woody, and sweet. H/S good.
