Hidden gem
When I first sprayed this drugstore fragrance by an influencer I have never heard about, I expected absolutely nothing. But then I liked so much that I needed to try it more thoroughly on my skin!
Of course it will be pulled from the stores just now as I'm done with sampling, but it seems to still be available online. I guess the customers in drugstores mainly want designer dupes or very nondescript everyday fragrances.
Anyways, Taboo is an everyday scent, too, but not without character. It's a creamy, musky, slightly woodsy scent that makes you feel clean and put-together. Not exactly what you'd expect from a perfume called Taboo in a black glitter bottle, but maybe that's for the better.
The opening is full of dry pink pepper, with just a touch of sweetness and a creamy blend of flowers and musk in the background. This is not as much of a white floral as the notes list suggests though. Jasmine and tuberose can be very sweet and hypnotic, but they are quite subdued here.
Especially in the opening I sense an unlisted aromatic note here, a bit like lavender maybe. It slightly reminds me of Mon Guerlain and Guess Seductive Night in this aspect, but the rest of the scent is obviously different.
Over time it turns from creamy to powdery, while staying very smooth. In the drydown the cedarwood starts to become more noticeable. At first I thought it was sandalwood, but after looking at the notes, cedar actually makes more sense, as sandal usually feels warmer.
This is lovely and highly recommended for fans of creamy musks. Especially if you want something woodsy and not overly sweet on a budget. I think I can restrain myself from getting a bottle simply because I have so much perfume and don't love influencer brands, otherwise I'd get it.
