A painting
I was once again in the Munich city center on the road to discover new fragrances. So I came into a large high-priced department store that leads a very large selection of niche brands and each has its own sales area.
So I stood in front of the MFK booth. The first fragrance I tried was Grand Soir, probably because I was attracted by this beautiful amber essence. After spraying it on for the first time, the scent fascinated me so much and surprised me so pleasantly that I couldn't analyze what I was smelling at first. I still have a few sprays put on without testing another fragrance and am first out into the cold evening.
It has snowed a little. And while strolling along with this wonderful fragrance in my nose, an image suddenly came to my mind that reflects my feeling for this Grand Soir: I'm looking across a snowy little park-like garden to a magnificent baroque town palace, from the 17th/18th century, where you look through large arched windows into the interior of an amber ballroom. Crystal chandeliers fill the hall with warming light. Inside, joyful and elegantly dressed ladies and gentlemen on the dance floor, and all around, people enjoying themselves who couldn't be happier.
An enchanting magical evening. Not loud, but Vivaldi and Bach; not snooty, but enjoyable.

I am accompanied by this painting of fragrance all the way home. It was a pleasantly sweet warmth which the tonka bean, vanilla and amber sprayed. This spiciness which one has after the first aufprühen becomes milder and milder with time and integrates so wonderfully to a total work of art.

I just think of a painting which would fit well to Grand Soir.

Vincent Van Gogh ''Café Terrace in the Evening''

Sometimes a scent projects an image or feeling that is hard to describe in words.

Oud Yes/No
Much has already been written about the fragrance, many praise him about the sky me included. The ''Oudexperts'' here say there is no oud in it. Maybe, who knows for sure if and how much oud a manufacturer really uses. The name Oud for Greatness suggests it at least if slightly exaggerated but I at least perceive it easily at the beginning with a nice smoky woody note. This is then joined by the saffron and a slight sweetness (yes very distantly reminiscent of Baccarat Rouge) which becomes more dominant as it progresses, dreamlike. The smoky woody remains until the end in the background and so beautifully interwoven. That makes it for me so much better than Baccarat but that is of course a matter of taste. Hype or not but I buy or find a fragrance but not cool only because he is celebrated by so many Youtubern. Since I think I'm hyper-resistant. That's the great thing about the souk, you order a small sample and either it fits or not.
I find Oud for Greatness just mega and a flacon will definitely move in with me.

Licorice
I haven't been in the niche world that long, but by being pretty bored of designer fragrances, I came across this great community while googling.
In the souk I quickly ordered a lot of fragrance samples because I was so curious. Also by the extremely many and very well written reviews that make it so tasty? where I would have thought earlier spend over 100€ for a fragrance can not be worth it, so you can deceive yourself.
Most fragrances until now have smelled great, each in its own way.
And then Ombré Nomade came into the house.
With the name Louis Vuitton I thought first that will certainly a good designer fragrance that most will like.
Wrong thought. After the first spray on the wrist, I thought, KRASS what's that? Have never smelled such a kind of fragrance.
Very smoky and heavy. But over the course of the next few hours I had to keep smelling my wrist and this combination of oud, rose, a bit of leather, and smoke really got me going. I find after about 1-2 hrs it becomes more pleasing, softer (not so straight in your face anymore) and the raspberry comes out more. The raspberry could be for me still ticken presenter.
In the evening, when I was still fascinated by the Ombré Nomade and could still perceive him well I thought to myself, it's like with licorice, either one tastes it or not. An in between does not exist.
Great fragrance!
