Leather with a difference
First of all: I think this fragrance is very polarizing and is not right for everyone. Definitely not a blind buy and not for every occasion.

I've had 2 samples so far and worn both sparingly - because performance is brutal anyway - and frequently (a good 12-15 times)

For me, MV Agusta is absolutely unrivaled and unique in its DNA. It may be that there is something out there that smells like it, but I certainly don't know it.

The motorsport collaboration works perfectly for me as a theme and has been implemented accordingly. In terms of scent, I associate it with car museums, garages and leather goods stores. Leathery, spicy, herbaceous to give it some kind of title. It is generally difficult to describe fragrances, but in my opinion you can't get a picture of this one if you haven't had it in front of you, or rather in your nose.

I personally like to wear it as a fall and spring fragrance, outdoors during the day, where it really comes into its own. Indoors, without much distance to others, it can be a challenge under certain circumstances. I received mostly positive, but still mixed feedback. I would definitely not recommend it to younger perfume lovers, I think it is rather difficult for most people under 30.

My conclusion: definitely worth a trial or purchase, but rather as a supplement for those who own more than 10 perfumes. As an Everyday or Signature definitely too edgy for 99%.

Axe for the sophisticated nose
So much for my clickbait headline ;)

The title is not meant to be disrespectful; it is meant as a compliment.

When I wear it or hold my perfume collection under my friends' noses without being asked, I like to describe it as the highest-quality gym fragrance I know. Although in terms of performance for the gym, it's even borderline.

It's actually the only classic/sporty Freshie I currently own and I mainly use it in such scenarios. For sports, hiking in summer, meeting friends in the evening in a private setting for a drink on the balcony or terrace, etc.

You can easily get through the day with it and sometimes even into the next morning. It does what it is supposed to do with elegance and class.

I don't know of anything better in its category and I think the small bottle will probably last most people for years and is also good value for money.

A fleeting acquaintance
I bought Afternoon Swim a good 3 years ago and didn't realize that it was already relatively hyped. Somehow I missed that with all the hype LV fragrances back then.
I liked it right from the start and think it's unique, despite its mass appeal. Cooler and fresher than Mandarino di Amalfi, for example, which would otherwise have occupied roughly the same position in my collection. Freshness without dominant aquatics, no sport vibes, but tart, slightly bitter citrus notes. You can't go wrong with this fragrance and you can confidently stop pondering in front of the perfume shelf. If it weren't for the very big elephant in the room: the longevity... I have never had a fragrance that fades as quickly as this one. Even on my clothes, which I now always spray on out of necessity. In my opinion, this is the killer of every fragrance and I now only use it on the way to the bath when I jump into the water anyway. So for me, the price-performance ratio is no longer given and I would tend to advise anyone against spending such a hefty sum on this. Unfortunately...

It's not you, it's me.
When I smelled Naxos for the first time, I was fascinated. It grabbed me straight away and I liked its complexity and had never smelled a comparable fragrance. I didn't buy it because of the hype, but rather in spite of it. Which is a statement in itself, as I usually try to go against the hype. I've owned it for a good year and a half now and unfortunately I hardly ever wear it. Somehow it always suits the occasion worse than any of the alternatives. As much as I like it, it makes it difficult for me. Too sweet for summer days, too summery in winter, it's exasperating... It's probably just me, but I don't wear any of my Xerjoffs less than this one and would advise everyone to consider whether it would be a good addition to the existing collection before buying it. Durability and sillage are top notch and the packaging is great, as always with the brand. Too bad we didn't become better friends. I actually want to like you more.

A surprisingly effective combination
I have been wearing Shelter Island at the height of summer for many years. My rotation at 28 - 38 degrees usually consists of 4-5 fragrances and, alongside Virgin Island Water con Creed, this bond is a constant in the warmest season. An exciting and unique fragrance combination that I would not have thought would harmonize. I was proven wrong. On the one hand, there is a certain heaviness, but this is countered by a (synthetic) aquatic note, creating a harmonious overall picture for me. The longevity and sillage are appropriately powerful for a summer fragrance, but the latter is not unpleasant. Once you've spent the first beautiful summer days and nights with it, it won't let you go. If you like it... I've had a lot of good feedback, but it's not a blind buy. It's in my all-time top 5 and it's actually unthinkable that it will ever leave it.
