Iris in the most conservative way
If you like your irises creamy, this is not your scent. After the fresh, flowery opening, it's very powdery (I hardly get any patchouli from my skin, from my clothes, yes, the next day there was a nice waft of woodyness).

When I smell this I see a white vanity with one of those big oval mirrors, in a style that was called elegant decades ago, in some specific environments. On the vanity a big ivory, bone or wooden round box with a painted violet on it in a faded purple: the talc powder of madame. Madame is a well respected woman and house wife, a good host for her guests, she uses her powder only on Sunday's before dressing for church and on special occasions.

For me this was too much talc powder, too much violet, too boring, too much of an 'old lady' vibe to me (for reference: I am nearly 46, so rather a 'old' than a 'young' lady). Powdered iris used to be mixed in with talc powder, this is exactly how I imagine that was smelling.

Scent
a desolate landscape
Gritty & dry, yet greasy. Ethereal yet spicy. Clean & fresh, yet smoky. It reminds me of a desert landscape, like the moon, or some distant planet or sun that has died out. Also, because of the name I guess of a solidified lava landscape. Black, wide, desolate with smoke in the air. A strange, images provoking, very associative skin scent.

A light and joyful bouquet of flowers
This fragrance has unmistakenly the DNA of Patricia de Nicolaï: the airyness, the lightness... I get the image of an elegant lady in a flowershop. When she gets home she puts her bouquet in a vase and the flowers spread their fragrance into the room, that has open windows that look out on a beautiful garden. Like Mrs Dalloway in Virginia Woolfs novel the lady is preparing for a night with friends, a party. I get a very English vibe from this scent and unlike the novel it continues to be a happy, uplifting fragrance til the end. On my skin I do not get any musky powderiness at all, unfortunately. It was something I was expecting since this perfume has been inspired by the iconic (and powdery) White Musk from the Body Shop.
Beautiful, well composed and elegant scent, but too flowery for my taste.
