Exploring New Scents #17 | Zoologist: Snowy Owl

The heat is finely here where I live! Heat I like, humidity, no thanks. This soul crushing humidity makes me briefly miss the days of winter. Can't it be 70 all the time? This is where Snowy Owl comes in. Bring the cold weather to you!

I was intrigued by this one due to the ice accords and the accounts of Snowy Owl really capturing the essence of the cold ice and snow of winter. How could one bottle capture one season in a few sprays? I was ready to find out.

The first notes are a really strong rush of mint and ice accord. Yes, ice accord! It's amazing how this can be captured, and captured it was. It's absolutely delightful.  I couldn't quit smelling my wrist. The smell of ice and snow accord was new to me, and I was loving it.

Lily of the Valley and white rose are listed as the florals in the fragrance but appear absent at first sniff. But if you wait it out, Lily of the Valley becomes very noticeable over time. Lily of the Valley with a chaser of mint. Even still, I was still distracted by the gorgeous ice notes! After about 5-10 minutes a slight whiff of coconut becomes apparent.

Let it sit longer and the notes begin to settle in for a stay: mint, coconut, cedar and icy winter. The florals soon become a bit indescribable to me, but they are there.  After an hour, the icy accord isn't quite as strong as before, but a new note comes to the forefront; a light bitter note from the galbanum. Noticeable but not distracting. It gives the scent a little bit more grounding without dirtying it up too much.

I have to say, I fell in love with this fragrance pretty quickly! This doesn't remind me of deep winter, but rather late winter and the promise of a fresh spring. While wearing this amazing fragrance, I kept getting the visual of an early cold morning at the end of winter. An orange pink hue is on the horizon as a graceful owl finds a perch high in the treetops for its slumber. As the branch shakes, freshly melted drops fall from the tree falling into the icy snow. This isn't powdery snow, this is the type of snow which has been sitting for a while, slowly turning into ice as the melting drops from the tree tops above keep raining down as the weather slowly starts to rise above freezing. It's beautiful.

I loved this so much, I had to buy a bottle and will wear this one often in winter, more specifically, when I am ready for spring! Such a lovely, unique scent. On a scale of 1-10, I would give this an 8.5. Just lovely.
