Exploring New Scents #15 | Zoologist: Chameleon
This one was very strange on me, and not in a good way. Yikes. In theory, I love 98% of the notes, but together, chemistry can be cruel. The first blast I was pleasantly surprised thanks to the strong ylang ylang. I love ylang ylang, but after about 5 minutes, the horror began.
I had to look around my apartment to make sure I had cleaned the litter box because I quickly got an unexplained light whiff of what I could only describe as used kitty litter box. Slowly, I went though the fragrance notes but the only thing I can remotely blame this issue on was the saffron, though, this may be unfair! This has happened with ylang ylang before on my chemistry. For some reason, ylang ylang just doesn't always play well with others I have realized.
Over time, it morphs into a tropical drink with coconut and mango at a pool bar. At the counter, there are vases filled with ylang ylang. Beautiful! But in the darkest corner, there lurks a beautiful cat with a large litter box, and the cat knows how to use it. Kitty urine strikes again!
After the three hour mark another strange note makes an appearance. Paint. Yep. A fruity drink with ylang ylang, cat litter and paint. Not the best experience for me.
This one was really hard for me and not one I want to revisit any time soon. It just did not play well with my chemistry which I can see happening with many when it comes to Zoologist. After this experience, I treated myself to a scent heavily fragranced with vanilla. Lots and lots of vanilla.
